I don’t like Valk here. It’s even less decision making turning her more into a skilless bot.
And if there’s anything you should know when balancing: the less effort something takes, the lower it’s potential should be.
We’ll never get a satisfying mercy if everything is almost done for us.
BigMainLittleChains could help in this regard
Mercy is way different lol
The GA changes make her more skillful and because they incorporated moments where she still has her momentum from GA into the cooldown she can’t just super jump and fly around indefinitely: she has to be careful to not waste GA as it can go from 1.5s to 3s real quick.
That at least is what I care about most in her changes but because I never played Mercy at release I won’t say much else.
eh… yes she was.
They gave 2 resons for the rework.
Disheartening to paly against, which is nothing but raw feeling based
And
Hide and res, which is a very questionable reason because of all the things we know.
Even if we ignore everything which says that hide and res was nothing but a very rare and plain bad appearance, pure feelings are still 50% of all the reasons for the rework.
Right now there are many other reasons to rework her again, besides feelings, which are way more valid than “hide&res” too.
They also didn’t remove the issues root, they only threw something even worse on top of that which, yes, is Val and E res.
Even if it’s UP i would take that over Val in any case (With a proper E of course).
That already gets rid of almost all of her current design flaws.
You know what is shocking? How everyone which likes Val doesn’t seem to see that you do exactly the same stuff in it than without it, but way less demanding.
“Flying with it is fun”
yeah cool, she has GA which is basically more effective with a higher sense of spatial awareness.
“Killing stuff with it is fun”
Nice, i can do that without Val too, yet again, with way better need for ability awareness.
“But i can actually help my team with it”
I can do that too without it, maybe not as effective, but it feels better than just pointing roughly at the center of my team.
I have yet to hear about something which you truly can’t do without Valkyrie (not talking about power, just good old raw gameplay) apart from being able to stay mid air without the need of doing somehting.
Meaning anything which removes Val would just make those which already like Mercy like her more, because she would be overall more engaging.
Finally someone says it. I always see people say she is balanced but never really explain what is making her balanced, and honestly I just don’t see it.
People just seem to afraid to give her anything fearing she may become meta again which is surprising to me because she is a support that works pretty well alongside dps but people only want ana to be meta and then get surprised that the healer that works well with tanks is helping create a tank meta.
I would like res deleted
- never gonna happen
I would like an actually in-combat ability, whether it be a burst heal, anti-CC (my god would a counter to anti-nade be beautiful) or I’ll even take a weak CC if I can boop death blossom.
- but Mercy can’t have skill!
Valkyrie is just a kick where it hurts. An ultimate where it makes everything easier to do like 76 ult…but barely better…literally 20% more healing on an already currently low heal and a mass damage boost that is ofc much better because Mercy is soooo team dependent…
- me crying because Mercy will never be balanced and satisfied
That’s why they should stop being toxic and favoring heroes and instead just balance heroes around their realistic potential in high tier gameplay which is literally the only place where it matters aside from half-automated low skill-floor abilities like Turret and Sentries which is why Sym 3.0 and Torb 2.0 were necessities for them to even have a chance to be high tier viable outside Stevo’s or Dafran’s hands. Most importantly: they should stop favoring new hero releases because it seems like Sigma’s release has decimated the tank playerbase almost completely and has a better average damage output in GM than Hanzo does and Hanzo is reeeaally good right now
I didn’t say anything about mechanical skill. I said her mechanics haven’t changed, and overall, they haven’t. Her ult was put on cooldown and her healing is weaker, but how has that made her less fun to play? I understand that Mercy mains miss getting showered with praise for pressing Q, but that never made her fun or engaging to play. Her gameplay is the same as it’s always been outside of that.
If you don’t find her fun to play now, then you never did and just enjoyed the impact of her ult. It was superficial.
Yeah, pretty much.
And whenever someone suggests;
“E Rez sucks, how about we move rez back to Mercy’s ult…”
A lot of people immediately cover their ears and go LALALALA THAT WOULD BE OP AND HAVE NO COUNTERPLAY so that can’t hear the second half of the sentence:
“… With the appropriate amount of counterplay added, of course”.
The Mercy 2.0 rework and ensuing Moth Meta was definitely a case of “the cure is worse than the disease”. It traumatized everyone so badly that players who never played during Classic Mercy’s time assume that she must have been even worse than the Moth, if the devs saw fit to rework her in the first place.
You’re missing the point…
Example: when I was in silver I liked being able to rez my Rein that flew in on Hanamura and died
Instantly
And wasted shatter and died again
So I rez’d him again
Now of course I didn’t realize Mercy was absolutely busted with rez spams! But I had influence over a match.
Current Mercy has no more control than the Ashe she pockets.
I disagree seeing that new GA, cd self stun (rez) and her just being weak in general will reward the Mercy’s that work harder than any other support. But she’s weak. And it’s sad but it’s the truth.
I’ve played mercy since the start and I enjoy the current one far more. I don’t think you have the authority to dictate which mercy verison was best and dismiss those who enjoy her now, after all it’s completely subjective, thank you very much.
what do you like more? the less engaging part? or the less impact?
Her playstyle overall. My favorite part about mercy is her GA and how much I can do with it. Nothing feels better than being an annoyance to the enemy. Mercy is definitely engaging and in order have an impact you have to work hard for it. Mercy is by far a pretty fun hero in my opinion.
Smite and HoTS uses it very well. So that’s not always the case but more so a matter of opinion. It can be balanced if done correctly, as an ultimate where it must be earned and not so much as an ability.
But, like I said in my above post, guardian angel was more fun (subjectively) before because you were much more heavily targeted and needed to avoid more. So other than it being easier, in a sense, it hasnt changed besides the super jump bug
also in terms of “working hard” for her impact there is an incredibly limited cap on that as all she has is 50 hps and a terrible ult. She had way more impact before, mass rez aside, as she could keep people up better, AND had to do more to earn it lmao
Mercy is still a target, if anything the amount of “kill mercy! kill mercy before rez” is still quite a lot. By the way, super jump increased her ceiling, not lowered it, she’s considered “harder now” than before because she has to work a lot harder now than she did before.
its not near as much as before because of the potential impact of mass rez she was 100% the first person the team would try to pick. Now people only try to focus her to stop her from rezzing her teammate (i.e someone with more impact than her literally regardless of who it is) or if the other healer is already dead. She’s basically ignored compared to how it was before
and there is no “working harder” with how her healing works. Working hard with mercy is simply staying alive and since she is focused less she doesnt need to work as hard. It’s not like with ana where you can land more shots or something
I wouldn’t say she’s ignored though i do agree she isn’t considered a threat like before, understandably, a hero rezzing the whole enemy team; undoing everything seems a bit insane and crazy… and kinda scary.
Don’t get me wrong, she’s still a top priority just not compared to before i see nothing wrong with that. Ana’s shots are inconsistent, completely different from mercy. Either way, you do have to work harder with mercy now, she doesn’t easily beat every support in healing like she used to.
yeah now she only beats zen in healing lol
As far as i recall, she beats every support except bap and moira and she’s close to bap.
