Im playing her more cuz of a challenge and compared to OW1, the new GA sucks to use.
And this post isn’t about viability its about feel.
Old GA was a glide, new GA feels like an awful hop
Old GA slingshot was one smooth motion, and pressing space was optimal l to time with your speed not wait till the very end
New GA, for optimal length slows down to a crawl, pauses then relaunches you. It just doesnt feel good to use. It feels downright clunky of you are going for distance.
God how did they made the ability feel so bad comapred to OW1. Now I remenber why I stopped playing mercy

And don’t forget the lovely heap of bugs!
Sombra uses Translocate, Moira Fades right as you try to GA to them? Start animation, move one inch, cooldown time or maybe not cooldown time it’s a fun lil roulette. I think the same thing occurs with sufficiently fast moving heroes (EX: Tracer, Ball, Lucio, Genji, 76 ect) right on the edge of GA’s viable range where if they outrange it right as you cast it it bugs out similarly.
The invisible floor full momentum stop seems to be back too.
There are a few other weird ones I noticed while playing a few days ago. I got snagged on something on Monestary, I can’t remember what it was but I remember thinking it was inconsistent with how GA typically interacts.
S8 GA bug fixes are all I want for Christmas, don’t care about any other patch notes, just fix some of GA’s issues please.

Do you think it would be better if they outright reverted GA to its OW1 state? (That’s an honest question that’s not rhetorical in any way.)
Are you doing the boomerang or not?
I think the main thing they need to do is get rid of the GA charge up bar and just make it go a set distance in said direction. Going 15m into the air would no longer be possible, it’d be more like 7.5 or something.
Mercy does need buffs to her value output because she just doesn’t do enough overall compared to other Supports.
I barely played new Mercy since OW2 and had a couple hundred hours in her in OW1. I just can’t seem to get used to the new GA and movement. I’ve seen some very skillful Mercy’s with her new movement in OW2 though. Luckily for myself I’m also decent at Ana/Bap but it sucks that I can’t play Mercy anymore.
You’re not alone, I stopped playing mercy when “prefer facing target” started meaning “drag me to whoever”. Ana is just so much less hassle dealing with these nonsense bugs
IMHO, no.
The loss of her multi-directional GA/slingshot, and her EZ-SJ, would make it harder to stay alive in OW2’s 5v5 world.
Plus, you can still use the same mechanic as OW1 where you smear crouch into GA, to do a low GA flight. And while the GA meter stinks when you get caught too close to someone, if they are at the outer edge of your GA, then you can achieve some serious distance/height with the slingshot more easily than the old OW1 GA.

100%. the new GA sucks and is literally busted. it’s so busted that they had to nerf it meanwhile the old GA was balanced for 6 straight years. they did NOT need to change it at all and mercy players kept telling them to STOP MESSING WITH GUARDIAN ANGEL but guess what, they didn’t listen. no mercy player besides skiesti wanted this, not even niandra.
if you revert it and she turns out to have more deaths per 10, then buff her elsewhere like a better sympathetic recovery or change the support passive for her only. but i can tell you now, the only reason why her deaths would increase is because the players reliant on the busted mobility would be put to the test on how to actually utilize and master her movement PROPERLY. actual good mercy players wouldn’t die more often because they actually know how to use her movement as they have mastered it.
old OW1 players who play mercy back then, would only have to change their muscle memory again which wouldn’t take long at all. her old mobility will allow people to differentiate good mercy’s from bad ones via movement wise.
