Mercy and the successful rework

Let’s take a look at Mercy and her past nerfs after she got reworked almost a year ago:

Mercy rework launches on PTR 24/8/2017 and after a few days:

  • Nerfed Valkyrie speed from 11 meters per second, to 9 because she was too fast in the air.
  • Nerfed pistol firerate because it was too good at dealing damage.

Mercy rework launches on live 19/9/2017 after a few weeks:

  • Nerfed res during valkyrie because she was getting too many resses.
  • Res won’t reset GA anymore.

So far these nerfs are looking good.

Mercy is still overpowered on live however, we get a PTR patch around the 31st of October:

  • Nerfed res, which now has a cast time
    (Valkyrie remains the same though)

Mercy is still overpowered. This is where things start getting very questionable.

January 4th was when we got another set of nerfs:

  • Nerfed GA speed during valkyrie by 50%
  • removed extra res during valk
  • valk doesnt have insta res anymore
  • valk duration reduced to 15 seconds from 20

After those, Mercy lost a whole bunch of play time but slowly started rising again, only to reach her old pickrate even without the double insta cast res.

Then, a few days ago, we got this:

  • Reverts base healing back to launch which is effectively a net nerf to both her ult and her consistency.

Really? Is this really what you call a “success”? Im pretty sure when a reworked character receives 10 nerfs to be balanced the rework is a failure. And the funny part is that none of those nerfs really fix her problem. Which is resurrect on a cooldown.

All that needed to be done in my opinion was to make old res charge slower and require Mercy to have line of sight to her allies.

She dominated ever since this rework happend and now you are slowly destroying every single bit of fun you can have when playing her only for her to keep dominating.

Please dont keep going this way. Fix the actual issue with her, which is Resurrect on an E.

After a point, I’m starting to view the folk at Blizzard as simple internet trolls. I’d say don’t feed them and move on, but unfortunately money was exchanged here.

“Success” or “Work in progress” I guess it’s easy to mix up the two.

Looks like primarily a bunch of changes to Rez and Valk.

Why would it make sense to continue doing changes to Rez and Valk?

Nerfing her healing shows more promise than changing Valk and Rez, yet again.

This is asinine. If they need to strip things out of every other part of her kit in order to counterbalance the changes this rework brought, then the rework is a fail

It’s what will forever make her the best, and that’s what they want, even at the cost of the core and enjoyment of the character, she’s starting to look worse than Roadhog tbh.

Valk doesnt need changes. Valk needs to be removed from her kit.

It’s just so weird seeing the arguments that Valk is worthless, cooldown rez is extremely powerful.

So let’s get rid of Valk or make it weaker, and buff the crap out of Rez.

Because that’s how to “nerf” Mercy to balance.

Like wut? That’s not consistent at all.
