unironically bring massrez back. it might be annoying to some (probably the same people who mash q to win with no additional thinking) but it felt so right on mercy, a guardian angel rescueing lost souls from limbo :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

Mercy hide and seek and press one button.

Garbage to play both with and against

While it felt very cool, it was incredibly difficult to balance and encouraged an even more passive playstyle to mercy… the already most passive support lol

I’d rather have her base kit get something new and interactive that she can use regularly throughout normal gameplay and also encourages an active playstyle… rather than having to gut her base kit again for a cool 1 button press every 2-3 minutes. (Because ults build much slower in ow2)

There has got to be another way for mercy to have a hero moment that isn’t mass rez.

It only needed line of sight checks and shorter skull timers. Then if that was not enough they could cut the rez down to 50% HP or less. Deleting it was dumb it could have been balanced.

I understand your argument here, but consider things like ow2 sombra ult or sigmas ult. Things that literally insta-delete 40-50% of your hp…

Mass rez 4 people at 100hp on average (due to 200hp squishies) and literally 1 pharah rocket or hanzo arrow and so on will delete them lol it’d be a really frustrating ult that’d get less value than you think…

Sojourns slow ability literally does like 55 damage per second… just throw it at the half hp rezzed targets as they get revived and you’ve just successfully staggered your entire team for another 7+ seconds while feeding ult charge.

LoS might make it more reasonable, but definitely not balanced either… compare a 4 man ow2 rez to coalessence lol…

Part of the reason it was removed was that ults charged a lot faster at that time, meaning Mercy could often mass-rez every fight. Killing Mercy first want even a viable option towards the end of maps because that was just setting her up to get a big rez on her respawn.

The hide and seek aspect of it was also very bad. The game encouraged non-participation so that Mercy could get the large rez, when supports should be getting to prevent the death in the first place. Unlike a team wipe ult like deathblossom, where Reaper has to take some form of risk to get behind the enemy team, Mercy would hide in the safety of her own team’s back line.

I always felt that Valk was an underwhelming replacement for mass rez. Valk may be a strong ability, but Mercy lost her ability to make huge game-winning plays. She doesnt really have those PotG moments which i believe was a big factor in alienating large portions of her more casual fan base. However, bringing back mass rez is not the solution.

Just like rip tire, the exact opposite of that ult. I genuinely think Mass Rez was created for ults like Rip Tire so it could be countered.

I totally understand this, but if mass rez came back to ā€œkeep certain ults in checkā€ like blade or tire, then mercy’s mobility/survivability would have to be rechecked as her ult would become one of the best in the entire game in terms of consistency and value.

The best ults in the game are both consistent and powerful, and they usually belong to heroes who have weaker base kits on their own (i.e… sombra, orisa)

Id really rather not sacrifice parts of mercy’s base kit just to become a forced counterpick on 1 button press to junk/genji etc every 2-3 minutes…

Eeeeh I wouldn’t say the best. I’d rate Beat higher tbh. An ult that can flat-out prevent deaths from happening is way better than an ult that can reverse it. It’s high up there tho.
