Melee DPS concept

I remember way back when Overwatch first came out, they used to talk about how they wanted Genji to be a Physical DPS, but couldn’t get it to work in a way that was balanced and fun to use, so they restricted his physical damage to Dragon Blade. I wanted to have a go at it, with less of a ninja take. So, here we are.

New Damage Hero: Lua

General:

  • Health: 150 HP
  • Movement Speed: 6.5m/s (Faster than average)

Passive: Target Cracker

Lua’s Basic Attacks deal Critical damage when striking an enemy from behind.

  • Critical Multiplier: 1.5x

Weapon: Eclipse

Lua attacks with short range claw weapons, dealing relatively low damage, but are able to connect with multiple blows at once.

Using Eclipse’s Secondary Fire will shoot short range projectiles from Lua’s Claws, dealing light damage at short range.

Melee Hits don’t consume ammo

  • Range: 8m
  • Damage: 20 per hit
  • Rate of Fire: 1.3 swings per second
  • Ammo: 10
  • Reload: 0.6 seconds
  • Projectile Range: 20m
  • Projectile Damage: 10
  • Fire Rate: 1 shot per second

Ability 1: Shadow Sneak

Lua instantly travels to an enemy or an ally, allowing for instant engagement and disengagement from a fight. When used on an enemy, Lua is briefly rendered invisible. Upon exiting stealth, Lua’s next basic attack or ability deals increased damage.

  • Range (Ally): 15m
  • Range (Enemy): 25m
  • Stealth Duration: 1 second
  • Damage Multiplier: 1.5x
  • Cooldown: 9 seconds

Ability 2: Lacerate

Lua strikes at his target repeatedly, dealing rapid damage to them, before leaping back and becoming stealthed. If an enemy dies to Lacerate, Lua gains temporary life steal on his Basic Attacks for a few seconds.

  • Damage: 30 per second
  • Duration: 3 seconds
  • Range (Cast): 15m
  • Range (Leap): 10m
  • Stealth Dutation: 2 seconds
  • Life Steal: 20 HP per hit
  • Life Steal Duration: 5 seconds
  • Cooldown: 11 seconds

Ultimate: 1000 Cuts

Lua leaps at a target, temporarily rooting them, and unleashes a devastating attack that ignores Damage Reduction effects. If Shadow Sneak and Lacerate are on cooldown, 1000 Cuts lasts longer. If an enemy dies to 1000 Cuts, Lua can lunge at another enemy, attacking with 1000 Cuts again, but to a greatly reduced effect.

  • Ultimate Cost: 1,850 Points
  • Root Duration: 4 seconds
  • Duration (Cooldown Bonus): 1 second per active cooldown
  • Damage: 70 per second
  • Range: 25m
  • Range (Second Cast): 10m of Initial Target
  • Damage Penalty (Second Cast): 50%

Rework hanzo 3.0 make him use a sword again, no more log cannon

I like this concept quite a lot. This ultimate gives me L4D hunter vibes. Where you basically have to rely on your allies to get him off you. The one problem i see is with all these instant leaps and stuff he’d prolly be hated by support players and support is already the bottleneck.

Its funny that you posted it now, cuz i just saw someone talking about Genji feeling dull after his changes and i was like “hmm dull… dull blade… what if we had a melee hero with something like bleed effect, but it wears off after a while and then he has to back out for a bit to sharpen his blade again…”. And suddenly a melee hero concept appears hah.

I hate Hanzo also but you realize it’s been shown his arrows are smaller than mercy’s bullets from her gun

When mercy’s bullets start 1 shotting people then we can talk
