What do you guys think of MEKA? Do we need more characters from MEKA? So far, we have confirmation on all the main members’ names and their mechs. We also know of D.Va’s mechanic named Dae-Hyun. Aside from that, there’s not much else.
I think they are very interesting and I want to see more of them. Maybe each of them could be like an anime character cliche like King would be full of himself but also very powerful.
We also know a little about their team dynamic - D.Mon was on D.Va’s esports team and she’s a protective friend, King was D.Va’s rival, and Overlord is the maknae/youngest of the group.
I’d like to learn more about Casino, and whether there’s a link between him and Maximilien (since they are both connected to Monaco).
I’m also curious about the team’s dynamic since they all live together at the base and are pretty young. I’m curious about how the whole organization operates.
The meka team also carries some celebrity status and D.va seems to be their golden girl, so it makes me wonder how the others deal with it(D.mon doesn’t seem very interested in that part from the image we got from her).
Also, the addition of Daehyun in the animated short always felt unnecessary to me. If they really needed a male surrogate for the audience, the writers could’ve easily used one of the 3 other pilots. Put him in a sling so he couldn’t stop her from going into battle alone and make him helpful during combat by feeding info and strategies, instead of that childhood story we got, that came out of nowhere, just for exposition. Imagine the shock of another pilot hearing about their teammates talking about self-destructing as their duty to protect the city.
With the old writing team, I would’ve said that for sure you would get anime style of writing, but now? Who knows?
