Secondary fire provides consistent damage with moderate ability to secure kills. Easier at shorter ranges
Wall splits enemy team, blocks damage, destroys objects and provides vertical mobility. Better with coordinated teammates.
Cryo-freeze (despite bugs) blocks damage and provide sustain, being useful to stall
Blizzard disrupts enemys team, but sometimes it doesnt work because of long cast time.
Roadhog:
600 HP, huge hitbox
Primary and secondary fire provides inconsistent damage, better at 0 and 10 mettres.
Hook (despite bugs) splits enemy team, interrupts abilites, and sometimes achieves enviromental kills. Beter with coordinated teammates.
Take a Breather provides high sustain, useful to stall and survive ultimates.
Wholehog distupts enemy team, sometimes achieving enviromental kills, but it is risky to use.
It seems that Mei can do almost all the same thigs Roadhog does, but better.
So, what is the point of picking Roadhog and not Mei? enviromentak kills? The 600 HP makes him a ult battery, and Mei can stall points better than him in 2CP maps.
I love the new Mei changes, because Mei needed a buff, and the buff is fair. But this makes evident that Roadhog needs a buff. Maybe a minor one. He hasnt a role in game now.
D.va is possibly the best off-tank in the game. She’s incredibly overtuned.
Hooking someone is pretty much an instant kill as long there is follow up from multiple people, and as long you play with your team, this should be the case.
Setting up kills as Zarya is much harder to do.
Mei’s freeze is indeed strong, it’s just that her kit is difficult to utilize effectively.
Basically Roadhog is a better pick than Mei at the end of the day. The pickrates show this.
You’re right about Take a Breather but the hook is not that buggy. As long as you land your hook and there’s no obstacle between you and the target, the hook pretty much always connects and pulls properly.
I meant 50% accuracy. Mei wall requires a lot of less skill to isolate a target.
Although hook is better than wall for 1v1 battles (wall in that case is used as a escape tool).
They could fix this by making Mei’s affected by armor if they really wanted to make this even (or by making Hog unaffected by armor). However Roadhog does consistently more damage than Mei, assuming you actually land your shots well and strategically. As for the different hit box sizes the characters themselves are immensely different sizes.
Well for one thing Hogs better looking for starters and he’s not an obnoxious crybaby lol
But in all seriousness Hog demolishes Mei in almost every way. Higher survival rate, hook shot melee combo, can heal himself, can ult faster than she can, has a better chance of one shoting 200hp heroes than she does even with her falloff revert and above all he doesn’t put up ice walls that harm both the enemy team and your own team.
Mei does more harm than good and Roadhog even at his weakest is still a powerhouse. He’s the one in plats and topping the expert charts and not her.
I think (not sure) that Mei icicles has “damage ticks”. They dont do instant damage, like Ana darts, so they can be affected by armor. Armor reduces its damage by 5 per tick. However, is far away less affected by armor than Roadhog.
