Mei slow doesnt do much against mobility

It just hinders the already non mobile heroes even more. The exeption here is Dva but when facing a hero like Ball, Tracer, Doom it really feels useless.

Yeah I dont know why they didnt just give her Hindered instead of stronger/more slows.

Should have left her spray alone and instead let her apply hindered to enemies around her when her iceblock.

The entire set of changes is really misguided, as it attempts to bring back the spray into icicle combo that only worked thanks to freeze. Without freeze, its just flat out worse than 100 dmg spray.

Mei is pretty much an Assist Bot now as someone always has to follow up on her slowed targets. You are either blocking tanks and slowing them down if you can or just spamming icicles.

Sort of like Sombra who is a low DPS hero where people need to take advantage of the hacked targets.

Agreed…i still find Mei lethal and fun overall, but this change itself is not good OR fun.

I agree on the lethal part but she feels more boring. Technically she is stronger now but the fun aspect is gone.

Exactly. I found her snow being high dps exciting and using icicles at range…this new method is a slow build up and unsatisfying conclusion.

The change is geared towards helping her win the tank fight together with her tank. She also punishes Genji, Tracer, Symmetra and Reaper for trying to challenge for too long.

Granted her 1v1 potential is way lower, but you still don’t want to be stuck facing her upclose in the team fight as you’ll get hung out to dry.

Its absolutely baffling how so many people insisted Slowverwatch would be totally fine because ‘Mei buffs are only gonna be felt by dive mains’

A) why do dive characters not get to have fun?

B) More important, NO IT WON’T. All tank mains were (once again) saying since day one of this announcement of balance that low mobility brawlers like Rein and JQ would feel these slows too, arguably worse since they don’t have the escape options of a dive hero.

But no, everyone insisted hard these were to keep Tracer and Ball in check, and that the Reins are just dummy Rein players who probably deserve to never have fun.

Well what’s confusing about the Mei changes is it makes her less fun to play as, and less fun to play against.

And yeah, doesn’t really do much against hypermobility.

What was the point?

Like it’s more “thematically correct”, but otherwise it’s just worse gameplay.

Which is whats baffling as before the rework she could still do that and keep her 1v1 potential.

Correct but more like a deterrent as she lost her 1v1 potential.

Oh 100% thats what she is used for now and thats why shes unfun on both ends. I would gladly take a weaker but more fun Mei than this.

Dive heroes like Genji run rampart since OW2 S1. Their win and pick rate is consistently over performing.

They deserve to be dumpsterd even more. Especially Genji, I almost never have an match without this stupid op easymode hero and it is tiring to counter and play around him every single match. Its stale and stagnating.

It really doesn’t. It just shafts the heroes that she was already pretty good against even worse in some aspects, while also being worse to play as.

Cass on the other hands gets giga-buffed because God forbid he isn’t excellent at multiple ranges and isn’t corny.

lol revert both mei and cass.

I mean give cass something else fitting a cowboy. Something skillful and rewarding.

Cass feels so weird as a Rein. When you charge and he nades you then you just kinda stop and are slowed. It took me half the match to even figure out what was causing it, I seriously thought my keyboard was misfunctioning. Maybe if there was a noise when it attaches or a voiceline, or even better just get rid of it.

It’s meant to pop up saying ‘hindered’ but I’ve had a number of times where I was hit with it, confused why I was both slow and couldn’t use my one movement ability, to realise it must have been him but there was no sound effect for him throwing it; no voiceline, no visual effect, no message on-screen. This is also a bug with Tracer’s pulse bomb where sometimes it doesn’t say you’re stuck or the directional sounds and visuals show the wrong direction so you end up walking into it instead of away. Been the case since 5v5 began along with the degradation of the servers and it’s just not been addressed at all, which is depressing af.

Absolutely this. Mei’s primary fire is just not a threat to the highly-mobile heroes she used to be good against because now the damage is gutted, and the minimum slow is lower than the basic slow she used to apply. Now highly-mobile targets will have an easier time escaping her range while taking a fraction of the damage, and never even being threatened by getting Deep Freeze procced on them, whether they’re jump-dashing Genjis, blinking Tracers, or pin-balling Hammonds.
A Mei in this state is better off going after brawler tanks, Zen, Ana, or anyone else lacking high-speed movement and who’s damage you can avoid with a tactical ice-block.
Mind you, a category of heroes already hindered by all the other flanker/dive heroes on the roster, and Mei isn’t exactly built to be very good at flanking or diving… so why should her primary fire act like she is?

Many expected these changes to make Mei weaker to play but more annoying to play against. I think she’s now weaker to play but less annoying to play against given how weak she is. :grimacing:

Mei could actually threaten mobile heroes before because her primary did reasonable DPS with a low aim requirement. Now she’s no longer a threat. Her numbers need tweaking. I say keep the deep chill debuff, ditch the 75% slow and keep at 50 if necessary, then bump her primary up to 80 DPS.

her damage is not gutted… she does pretty much the same dmg as before u just have to use your right click. you cant just left click barely aim and get free kills on everything! great changes if you ask me.

her primary did BROKEN LEVELS OF DPS

here fixed it for you

How tho? She is much worse vs those heroes. The only one I can see an argument for is maybe sym, but I still think I’d rather take the stronger beam vs her.

Tracer doesn’t care about her tiny dmg, she is never getting the 1.5s slow. Just like before, prob best to try and 1 shot her.

If genji ever gets hit by the slow, he has dash or can deflect the follow up shot, making mei dps real low.

And reaper can just wraith when she goes to hit a m2.
