As a Mei main, it saddens me to see her underutilized. Between pro play, competitive play, and even quick play for fun. Her unique kit is great for team plays, and solo fun, but she’s not a true DPS. The problem arises, her lack of damage makes her difficult to compete with all the other DPS characters.
So, my suggestion is simple, makes sense, and doesn’t make her overpowered, but it brings her closer to being a true DPS.
Increase headshot damage on frozen targets. As you usually only have time for one headshot on a frozen target, this is extremely frustrating that you are unable to burn down a solider, even a Brig.
This damage should be 50 damage more than her normal headshot. As a normal headhsot does 150 damage (which is low in comparision to her firing rate) This would be enough to 1 shot a wider variety of other heros.
This just makes sense to me, having her icicle shatter an opponent that’s frozen.
Honestly, they boosted her primary fire damage such that she can now Freeze -> Headshot combo people to death. Before you could freeze and headshot and would have to melee follow-up for the finish.
On 200 heroes seems sufficient. For 250 you need some minor team support. For anything more it wouldn’t really die unless team focused anyway even on a stun.
You made this thread yesterday proposing the same thing, and you basically prefaced it by stating you want it so that even healing a teammate doesn’t matter - Mei should kill them regardless.
That is not a good suggestion, and you got feedback yesterday on that exact idea.
I dont think that the problem in the dps class is a problem with Mei. Its just that outside goats, the better dps are the ones with burst damage.
I mean look at Soldier, that had to be buff in his “op” state to be able to compete.
If you freeze an enemy it is not difficult to get two headshots on the enemy.
This wouldn’t really affect squishies but it would be enough to kill certain tanks in one freeze. (It would be like 500 damage a freeze)
Imo she doesn’t need more help against tanks.
“as a Mei main” you don’t realize how easy it is to fit 2 icicles into a single freeze?
You can even throw one before the freeze stun takes effect, while they are still practically rooted from the freeze slow, without resetting the freeze progress. That’s a total of 450 damage + ~50 damage of left click
i’d say you’d have to remove the freez on her lmb and replace it with a root, because mei, is cancer, and if she goes meta expect an outrage, besides her wall + freez hard counters tanks, so if you give her more damage you’ll give up on freez
I like Mei but the problem isn’t her damage, it’s that everything about her is way too slow. Her fire rate, movement, I’m not saying it should be Tracer level fast but considering how fast other dps can dish the damage out Mei just takes too long. Her blizzard is also way to slow, with the insane movement speed so many characters have they just laugh it off.
It would do next to nothing to make her any more viable, the issue is that she has the lowest DPS in her role and/or the game. The fire rate on her right click needs to be decreased to .75/second so that she puts up relevant numbers vs a shield.
I don’t know. Mei is one of those characters that is balanced but can easily be overpowered if not tuned correctly. Ice wall and ice block are some of the best abilities in the game and she can cancel a lot of characters pretty quick. Her damage is fine, the only thing I’d buff about her is her ultimate cast time. She’s so easily stunned/killed out of it and the enemy team can react quickly because they know exactly where it’s going to land.
If ur really a mei main u should learn to do two hs in the time frame u freeze a character. Mei is one of the heroes i play the most and id say shes fine. The only change i want is that her wall and cryo is in her favour. Cuz i have died alot of times when those abilities (especially cryo) should have saved me
Theres so many things wrong on that statement … lets see :
1- You want to buff the ONLY precise area where Mei is BRUTALLY OPPRESIVE? Are you for real mate?. If you are freezing someone and you cant kill him its either because its intended you cant (they have high HP or armor) or you failed.
2- Mei is not supposed to be Strong in close range in a way that you cant fight back, therefore she doesn’t need any buff in that range.
3- Her projectile is already strong as it is and its very thick, so you get headshots by nailing heroes collarbone/shoulders.
She is a defensive hero, you can’t make a hero that is already VERY GOOD on defensive parts of the game even better in attack or better attacking than other heroes suited for that task. If you are aggresive and use your walls / CC properly, she is way more effective than some DPS.
