Compared to other area denial ults, torb/hammonds the difference with theirs and meis is theirs does big damage to deny an area.
Meis does minimal damage but in return does cc. But with how her ultimate works you have to stay in it with no interruption to be frozen.
Since most of the cast can actively get out of it. And it’s damage isn’t high enough to actually deter people I propose that the ults duration time last longer. It feels like hammonds and torbs last Much longer than meis does and can actually deny an area for appropriate amount of times.
If meis lasted longer it might feel more appropriate as an area denial ult. but as it is now it feels like it doesn’t quite deny areas well enough.
Plus mei could use buffs anyways (I’d prefer ammo changes revert But I’ve always had an issue with her ult compared to others like hers)
Her ult is kind of bad, considering how many things can stop it even if you’re hit dead center on it. But realistically, her ult is far from the only thing keeping her from being good.
I know she has many issues. Just since her regular kit is a mess now since blizzard have nerfed every aspect of it and don’t seem to know what they want to do with it thought I’d leave it alone and focus on something else.
Only ana/ mcree/ sometimes rein off the top of my head can really be hit hard By the ult and that’s assuming there’s no zarya on ur team.
Rein, Roadhog, Sigma, Bastion, McCree, Torb, Ana, Zen.
These are the characters you could realistically trap in the ult. Virtually every other character has the mobility to escape it. Assuming no Zarya or Moira on the team. Every other character as an easy means of leaving or just being immune to it for the full duration.
Easy being “even if you put it at their feet, they can escape the range of it’s effects before being frozen”
Her ult 100% is in need of a buff. It had a duration nerf and combined with the freeze time taking longer nerf it makes blizzard useless almost 100% of the time. I have had situations where I blizzard while freezing an enemy and they still walk out of it. By the time the enemy has actually frozen in blizzard it’s over and combined with zarya being in the meta it’s become completely useless since her bubble just negates it entirely. The only thing it is good for now is solo ulting an overextended tank because that is the only way to really get any effectiveness from it. And even then if it’s roadhog you are solo ulting, he will survive it 80% of the time.
Compare this to something like minefield which will completely deny an area for what feels like a minute or so while doing insane damage. The only real counter was sigma throwing a shield in or Rein but since shield is out the meta minefield is completely uncontested.
Yeah, it’s probably the worst ultimate in the game
The problem is they need to stay at least 3 seconds out of its 5 sec duration to get frozen for 4 seconds.
From the moment you begin to throw it, enemies have about 5 seconds to react if not even more. That’s why it’s really avoided and escaped.
I feel if they buffed its travel time by another 10m/s (just like i suggested once), her ult might be faster and give less reaction time, therefore a bit stronger (instead of adding more cc to it). It already got nerfed along with her primary fire freeze time a couple of months ago, so yeah, she needs some compensations for it. But her ult is not the only problem that drags her down, as Moon said, her primary and secondary are also bad, along with the long cooldown on abilities and unreliable cryo.
Yeah, I meant to say one of the worst. Other characters at least don’t have an outdated and bad kit in every aspect like she does, they make up for a bad ult.
Blizzard isn’t a great ultimate, but it’s also not quite as bad as people make out here. Some heroes have an easy time avoiding it, sure, but not the whole roster.
It’s also funky as hell. Can’t count the time I got frozen outside it’s area of effect, esp. aggravating when trying to charge through/out of it as Rein, and still end up as a popsicle in a place where it shouldn’t have any effect.
I mean it’s decent, does it’s job perfectly and can force enemies into dangerous positions for allies to take advantage of. And good tip I’d recommend saving a wall to close off any escape routes right after tossing the ult, enemy won’t expect it and will panic which is especially strong on Nepal.
Oh please, the post you quoted very conveniently omits that blizzard slows you down as soon as it starts. So no, it’s not quite that trivial to escape if you play a hero with no movement abilities.
Also, please do elaborate how it’s worse than Infrasight, which does no damage at all, or Tactical Visor, which - for any capable Soldier player - actually lowers Soldier’s DPS.
