Megaman Sold Less than a million copies and Capcom is Happy with the results

in fact the entire series only has 4 games out of nearly a hundred releases, that have passed the one million mark

Yet Activision Blizzard can launch a game with 500 million copies sold within the first week and be disappointed with the results.

Don’t forget the one dollar reticle dot micro-transaction.

I bet you the cost to produce megaman was basically negligible compared to the titles where 500m sales is a disappointment.

I dare you to compare the production costs of both games as well as the employee count and estimated wages. Games that cost more to make need to sell more to make up for that.

This is the same kind of argument as The Witcher 3 v Overwatch that was on here a few days ago. you can’t directly compare the two games without taking the entire picture into account. Several people have already stated that production costs, worker counts, etc need to be taken into account when making these types of comparisons.

I’m still upset about MVC:I

Yep, I’m willing to bet Overwatch has quite a bit more overhead to worry about. Also the game is just a portion of what’s funding a very large company. A huge company requires huge numbers.

Capcom is still fairly large, but I highly doubt they put nearly as many resources into Megaman as Activision did into Call of Duty. So even if they don’t have those giant numbers, their profit is still probably extremely good.

I think we all are M8 what wasted potential that was

Ya your right its just that theirs no way that they can put that much money into Call of duty, especially considering they dropped what otherwise would have been the most expensive aspect of the production Single player content.

That 500million copies at 60$ a pop on top of a season pass wouldn’t make an extreme amount of profit I mean were talking about 30,000,000,000 in gross income just on the base game sales. Even with about 30% of that going to the retailer, that should be more than enough to make any company financially stable for years to come. And this isn’t getting started on the micro-transactions and season pass purchases that rakes in who knows how much more money.

Yea but Capcom is, well, Capcom.

I’m sure they’ll release a bunch of DLC to get most of their profit.

Overwatch isn’t a failure, I don’t think anyone is saying that it is. It was insanely popular when it first came out and everyone loved it.

People cry that it’s getting boring - that’s the point.

I dont think capcom has any plans for dlc for Megaman at the moment, On top of that I do believe their moving on to one of the other Spin off series at the moment. Be it X, legends, Battle network or otherwise
