It has been known that the beloved cowboy we all know and love is getting a name change due to circumstances at Blizzard.

Rumor has it that there is a post going around that his new name is:

Harold Clementine.

ah yes, balance matters way more then a character being named after a sexual harasser/assaulter!

There have been other instances where a Dev has for one reason or another change something about a character. Whether that be their name or how they work game-play wise and end up re-doing the entire character.

A semi-recent example, is Tachanka from Rainbow Six Siege. When he got his a long awaited revamp to his kit, and they re-did his entire character in the process. Only his name stayed the same, everything else from his VA (I think) to his backstory and looks changed.

I’m curious, if Blizzard is planning on just a name change. Or will it be to difficult to figure out a new name for Jesse without re-designing the character entirely.

Also Jesse, does not look like a Harold. The sir name of Clementine, I can accept.

Not Harold.

That’s hilarious. Tony would be good too.

Smh my head, they better use the most cowboy-ist name possible for him:

Flint Blackwood Shotgun Black Coffee Rattlesnake Tobacco Brisket-BBQ Jalapeno Blackjack Leather Cassidy :triumph:

I’d argue it does. We don’t even know if the name change has done anything to help the real McCree’s possible victims. I honestly think blizzard did this as a smoke screen, and that the real McCree’s possible victims would have rather seen their day in court.

It doesn’t matter what they name him OW will be fully dead in 3 yrs anyway.

It’s either Joey Jo-Jo Junior Shabadoo or nothing

I have a definite opinion on this matter

I don’t care

The Overwatch team likely did this for the sake of their fellow employees who get reminded of the irl McCree every time they boot up the game. You could definitely interpret it as an effortless PR stunt but the change isn’t meant for you, it’s for the people who work at Blizzard who knew the guy either personally or not.

Yes, it does actually. I shouldn’t have to explain why…but if you actually come back and reply, I will.

He need some better to say name to replace good old cree short way to call him
Har does not sound that well.
“Look out its HAR!”
“HAR ulting”
“HAR behind”
Dont sould to well to me at least. And no time to say Harold tbh.

Maybe his American cowboy ethos has in fact been all ruse and he’s revealed to be a certain Frenchman all along. Think about it, Gerard gets ‘killed’ and shortly after this ‘McCree’ walking cowboy outlaw stereotype appears on the scene…

Gerard was present (and alive) when the Blackwatch incident happend.

Why use his first name? Why not “Clem”?

Granted this isn’t true, the OP just pulled from one of their own threads
