Things the company could have done:
-Not destroy evidence
-Hold people accountable to their actions
-Admission of guilt
-Create a healthy work enviroment for every gender from the beginning
-Help external investigators to show that these are not their values and standards but the once they write and talk about all the time
What they did:
Change name of a character
I supported Blizzard through the Warcraft series, tried WoW, HOTS, Overwatch but i will not support them any longer. OW is lacking content for a while now, OW2 is not in the horizon, WC3 reforged is an insult and the next biggest hit is a remaster of Diablo
I mean Blizzard has already been a company with pretty bad decisions.
I’m not sure, so I’m just asking whether or not this is connected in any way… so do you guys think that them teaming up with Activision made it worse?
Yeah well that was to be expected, there are plenty of patents of which Blizzard could possibly profit which could ruin the experience for others in-game.
Not only that but Blizzard has been quite bad at allocating resources to their departments, just ruining everything already.
I love how everyone used to call Blizzard a small indie company, they had enough money to fix their problems at the time. Never did and they just made it become worse, perfect example that they’re just in it for the money really… well i mean it’s a company i don’t blame them but that doesn’t mean the workforce has to get treated in such way.
Blizzard has become a failed project by now, won’t ever be what it used to be.
Team 4 (OW team) changed the name. OW team did all they really could. ActiBlizz is still trash despite them, and it’s unfortunate, but people need to speak up and make these changes happen.
Remove the Blizzard President and appoint new studio leadership
Remove the individuals identified as participants in the bad behaviour (such as the IRL Jesse McCree) that were still at the company - probably more to be done on this front, but some action has been taken
Collective action and bargaining commenced and ongoing with Blizzard employees negotiating with Activision-Blizzard for better ongoing conditions
…to name a few things that have been done.
Is there more that needs to be done? Well, duh. But don’t be disingenuous and act like they’re just changing a name and pretending all is fixed.
the History exists to remember and learn from the past.
it’s not like problem is solved if a fiction hero with a borrowed name will be called Jessy, McBeared
after all the years it will be still called McCree.
What if any voice actors will be sued for something bad? They will change all the voice lines?
None of what they did or didn’t do matters the name need changing because of the bad connotations it has lets call a character Harold Shipman or Jeffrey Dahlmer
Atop being a big kid, try acting & thinking like an adult
It’s a team related to Blizzard that caused it, not Activision suprisingly, but since they are all “technically” one company, and management did nothing to prevent it, California sued Acti-Blizzard entirely.
Well, Activision has some sketchy patents, which could ruin the game for quite some players.
Blizzard now has permission to use them and well could be one of the reasons for teaming up with Activision.
Can’t say they’re using these patents are being used actively or that this is one of the reasons, though i think Activision had some role in the downfall of Blizz.
rig the game for profit and stand by that rigging for 5+ years
team4 is NOT some innocent microcosm within the corporation.
they think rigged gaming is OK.
keeping same ladder with 0 resets for 5 years.
no maintenance whatsoever. nothing but queues into alts.
they are backing that.
they stand for it every single work day that nothing is done about it.
it’s time they stop trying to make pvp games.
