Maybe we should bring overwatch 2 to Google stadia?✅

How do people feel about this?

Personally I think it would be great because you would be able to play on any kind of hardware and it doesn’t need to be really great hardware with a graphics card and you could also play on a MacBook or On-The-Go . it also means that you can save battery life on your laptop or device.

One of the arguments against it would be input lag . from my limited experience of playing overwatch on GeForce now it actually wasn’t too bad on that service but hopefully it wouldn’t be too bad on Google stadia

You could also play overwatch on your mobile phone which I think goes without saying would be tremendously cool especially if you connect a controller to your mobile phone and you could use the official power support clamp

I can imagine one reason that people might hesitate with seeing it on Google stadia would be that they feel they would have to buy the game again so maybe there should be a discount for current owners of the game or alternatively just make it completely free to play if the game is already going free to play

Stadia would have horrible latency unless they improved that by having more data centers :man_shrugging:

But you can reduce the amount of latency if you buy their special controller which is only $20

Just buy a console at this point.

Problem is that they are very costly and very difficult to find

250$ for a Xbox XS.

Pretty budget if you want to get into Gaming.

  • Cloud Gaming takes up a large % of the wifi bill.

Yes well you still can’t play that with a mouse and keyboard and that’s one of the big things that’s missing

Also if you already have a broadband subscription then no it’s not really going to make you have a bigger bill unless you’re on a limited data cap of some kind

Well, actually you can.

Most GM’s and Top 500’s on Console use Mouse and Keyboard.

With special hardware that doesn’t exactly replicate an actual mouse and keyboard

Also that special hardware costs quite a bit extra as well

But it’s still mouse and keyboard.

But I understand what your trying to say.

Overwatch should come to Stadia, I don’t mind.

Ah yes Stadia, the platform that has been abandoned quicker by it’s developer than Steam did it’s controller, Good choice.

I wouldn’t exactly say that’s it’s been abandoned as such

Geforce Now is probably better though.

For Overwatch.

I would love it if they did bring it to GeForce now as well but for some reason they removed it unfortunately

The main reason I was thinking that they would do something with Google is that they already partnered up with Google for the 0wl

I think it was removed from geforcenow due to blizzard not wanting it on a cloud streaming plattform which if true basically kills all hope for this.

Yeah I can imagine maybe they had their own reasons like people were abusing the cloud gaming to evade bans or something but I’m sure that they could work something out with Google to make sure that nothing untoward would be happening

Also given the fact that we now have new leadership at Blizzard I think that’s all the more chance that we could possibly get it back because things are starting to change radically this could be one of the radical changes that they make by bringing back to Cloud gaming and making it to all players provided they have a good enough connection

I thought someone necroed a thread from 2 years ago, but no, this is a new thread.

You are aware Stadia has already crash and burned, utterly failed, right?

I wouldn’t say that that statement is correct about it crashing and burning. it’s still going pretty strong but yeah I would be disappointed if they suddenly cancelled the service for whatever reason

I play games with Google stadia quite frequently and it’s not too bad

Stadia is kind of a bad fit for multiplayer games, or any game, in my opinion (just my opinion!)

  • Input lag/latency
  • you pay a monthly fee for the stadia pro account
  • smaller handheld screen
  • handheld controls/controller
  • full price/sometimes overprice compared to all other marketplaces that have since lowered the game prices/have sales and discounts
  • you don’t own the game physically or on your hard drive, you’re only accessing their copy of it from the cloud
  • this means if stadia shuts down, your game is gone forever
  • for single player games, you can’t play stadia when your internet or power is out

More power to you if you accept all of those things simply bc you wanna play it in your bed or bathroom or by using your phone as a hotspot and playing on a road trip lol

Certainly a valid point but not a total game breaker

I would remind you that this is optional

You can connect stadia to any screen

They do discounts quite frequently however and that would really be up to Blizzard I would imagine ?

Certainly another valid point although in this day and age not really that big of a deal

But I imagine that they would offer you a refund if that did happen

Well yes but overwatch is already a fully online game

I most certainly would put up with those disadvantages you know to have the option of playing it when I don’t have access to a gaming machine
