Maybe next hero?

I’ve found Sojourn reference inside game files, since last update that changed mccree name.

Maybe its an spoiler to next hero? Since they delayed OW2, at least new hero would be interesting no?

I’ve watch ow1 localization files every patch, and its first time i saw Sojourn name inside them. Maybe an reserved name?

Good catch. I’ve been meaning to take a look through them myself. Can confirm there were previously no Sojourn references (apart from the Storm Rising stuff, of course).

I wouldn’t be shocked if they pushed Sojourn early to make up for the extended delay.

She’s another Damage hero, though. The community reaction would be… interesting

EDIT, because people haven’t seen my post further down:

After checking myself, I don’t see a unique ID for Sojourn amongst the other heroes.

I see a completely empty entry in the ‘Heroes’ list (ie. there isn’t even a name attached to it) but that has been there for a long time. In my post, I thought OP was saying there was a new entry for Sojourn but all the other data was blanked out. That is not the case.

I even checked the PTR files, to be sure.

yeah :joy:

Also, sojourn name reference GUID (unique identifier for string inside file) is present in all languages supported, but only contains her name. I tried to search about possible abilities or ultimate, i didn’t found anything, just her name, i presume is reserved hero name.

Yeah that sounds like a blanked out hero. Could be a remnant from OW2 imported by mistake, or could be a sign of things to come.

Sojourn is slated for OW2. They can’t really backpedal a character into an older engine. No budget for it.

Tanks work too differently in OW2 to be added now and supports are getting heavy changes too,I can only see them add another damage hero tbh

That’s a fair point.

Well older engine not same as unsupported engine. All heroes will be moved from OW1 to OW2 except for some heroes that will have their skins reworked.

OW2 isn’t a new engine so much as an upgraded version of the current engine (think of it as Overwatch 2.0).

They’ve already backported stuff, like some of the new sound environment features.

A hero may be possible, depending on the mechanics required.

Yeah, and lol making an entire engine from empty, they are crazy if they did that

I think only PVE module was reworked, since all ow1 bots is programatically to move in safe places. Not like real pve, that AI thinks, and can take decisions.

Sojourn talks in an archives mission. That’s probably why.

I would be surprised if some components have been completely rebuilt (the lighting engine, for example) but yeah, they aren’t going to throw everything out.

Keep in mind we know from Blizzard job postings that the OW2 engine is also going to be used for at least one other unannounced Blizzard game.

Overwatch the Pre sequel confirmed :flushed:.

I know but its new string GUID found on ow localization texts, was added since last patch, i presume new coop missions we won’t have. And its first time that Sojourn name is in OW text files.

The old coop on Storm rising, Sojourn name was not in strings, it was just icon with her name.

I had always thought something more along the lines of StarCraft.

Blizzard can’t win either way and they did that to themselves.

It’d be somewhat annoying but definitely better than nothing.
Also, support and tank heroes made for OW2 would probably require heavy retuning to fit into 6v6, which would then become wasted effort when OW2 does come out.

I want to complain, but giving us new content is important, so I guess DPS it is!

I’ll double-check and confirm when I finish work but it sounds like there’s a unique ID for Sojourn in among the other heroes. That wasn’t there previously, despite Sojourn having dialogue in the Storm Rising mission.

i think that character always been in the game files rumors saying he would be an announcer in overwatch 2 instead of Athena
