May 9th patch notes thoughts

love all the tank changes they are all well-needed and we will see if we finally have a queen meta god i hope

echo changes i like but we will have to see if its enough for her to compete with tracer for flanker.

the rat changes are amazing i would like for him to get a 6th shot tho

ana changes are dumb and littarly do nothing to fix the purple problems

baps getting a lot of micro buffs and he might become a huge problem down the road but we will see i like the small buff

kirikos changes we will have to see i think it will only effect higher ranks more then lower ranks for sure

and the life weaver change uis just so weirdly specific

only problem i have is we still have nano blade for the love of god remove nano blade already just remove all damage amps and rush from genji when in ult all of it for every thing

ok let’s see:

1.JQ got a deserved buff after being left in the dust for 4 seasons
2. Winston buff is ok
3.Wreaking ball nerf is deserved 100%
4.Echo buff is nice to see.Maybe I will see more echos in my games
5.Orisa buff is…strange But eh it’s only a 1 dmg
6.Junkrat buff is ok. It needed something else but ok.
7.Baptiste QoL buff :+1:
8.Kiriko the same as bap.
9.Ana . Now as a ana main I say that this nerf is 200000% deserved.She needed a nerf somewhere, anywhere. I would prefer a nerf to anti-heal but this one promotes aggressiveness so it’s my style after all.
10.Shieeeeeeeeeeeee.I forgot about lifeweaver.Here we go…it’s good??The change I mean.The hero is still in a pickle.Yeah.

not a qol but its a small buff

agree purple need to be like 50% to 75% anti heal not full anti heal

I’m not thrilled with Bap buffs. Stop making him even stupider and more thoughtless to play. He doesn’t work in 5v5!

Orisa didn’t need a buff and Junkrat didnt need a flat mine damage nerf - they should have just reverted that stupid change they made to begin with and call it done.

I don’t understand why they’re so terrified of making the wrong buff to Weaver. The situation is desperate, your brand new hero is terribly underpowered. Just do something, anything.

Yeah, both this and the previous buff to IF’s threshold make me uneasy. I’m assuming that they don’t like Bap’s win rate below the top ranks, but I’m not convinced that simply buffing IF is the way to go about that; it might even make the problem worse in making Bap better at the top, without helping all that much everywhere else.

I’m glad Orisa got a buff since she doesn’t seem to be doing all that well. Personally I’d prefer giving Orisa a better way of directly protecting her teammates than spin, but we’ll see.

Ball nerfs before Sniper nerfs.
And Lifeweaver still kinda sucks.

And if they are fine nerfing Ana that hard, and are unconcerned about losing players over it. Then that’s the holdup with losing fewer players on Sniper nerfs?

JQ going to be too good now with all of these buffs, all she needed was 130 damage knife back.

Echo ult nerf is just mind boggling.

The following changes increase the flexibility of Echo’s Duplicate ultimate and shift some of its focus away from the allure of building multiple copied ultimates in a single use. This puts more of an emphasis on choosing a Duplicate target based on the hero’s overall utility for a given situation

I take it the devs have not played the character since OW1 because nobody is building multiple copied ultimates in a single use anymore. If you want the ult to be focused on using another character’s base kit, increase the ult duration and the distance you can copy from.

Rest of the changes are ok.

A lot of settings related to hiding the UI and QoL. Personally I wouldn’t turn off anything that hides the numbers such as cancellation durations.

Junker Queen is actually popping off this season which is strange and now she’s getting multiple buffs. That is scary.
Orisa’s +1 damage is okayish.
Winston’s leap impact range makes him even less skillful but why not. I don’t care enough since its already easy to get hits with.
Wrecking Ball’s adaptive shield duration nerf, I can live with 7 seconds still.
Echo ulti CD decrease is pretty big, I don’t mind it.
Ana has less survivability now from 100 to 60. It’s a pretty big nerf tbh.
Baptiste like holy cow… this is a HUGE buff. More frisbees for everyone.
Kiriko has a great QoL change.
Everything else is meh.

I feel they still need to address the issues we currently are having which is being talked about on the forums and subreddit. ahem Snipers, & Lifeweaver,

it’s not gonna kill her. If anything now she is a must pick when the enemy has a JQ otherwise she will self-heal like crazy.

Nerfing one of the few good Support characters (Ana) because she can actually defend herself against Dive somewhat is… well, dumb.

It’s like they WANT Support to be less played than it already is.

The Junkerqueen changes seem like they’re a step too far.

Winston’s, Wrecking Ball’s, Kiriko’s, and Lifeweaver’s changes are very marginal.

Ana change is a much bigger nerf than people realize. She’ll be so much easier to dive now that she effectively has 260 health instead of 300 with her nade.

Everything else is a fair buff.

I just wanna be able to cancel rez quickly if needed instead of slowly shuffling away to what i think is edge of rez, thats all i want Blizz

I’m not going to judge properly until I play against it but I think they have made a mistake.

Junker Queen only needed very minor changes and she already has a niche.

It’s like they forgot that launch Junker Queen was the most dominant tank in Overwatch history.

I feel a backtrack will come very, very soon.

OP? hardly. She’s one of the few Heroes who can actually counter a tank, and has a direct hard-counter in the style of Kiriko.

Doubtful. She can counter tanks, and that counter can be countered. She’s also the target of every Dive character in the game.

Ana is my most played Hero in OW2. As soon as someone realizes that I actually know how to play her, the remainder of the match is “try to avoid the dive”, and so most of the utility is gone because you’re in constant self-preservation mode.

If Blizzard’s goal is to kill off the Support role, they’re well on their way to accomplishing it. It’s already the least picked category by far. Continue to diminish it’s survival ability and watch it tank even further.

You think Que times take a hit now, wait until nobody wants to pick Support anymore.

  1. jq didn t need a buff, middle tier tank hardcountered by anti and suzu. now way too strong without counters on team
  2. winston didn t need a buff
  3. ball wasn t op, just in a good spot. nerf is ok, but should be compensated
  4. flyers should be deleted
  5. orisa can burn in hell
  6. just like junkrat
  7. bap was already very good and supports are too strong overall
    8 kiri hs triple mod should never be a thing
  8. ana needed a nerf to purple

as always absolute failed patch notes from devs who don t play the game with a ton of new bugs.

The ana nerfs are targeting the wrong thing with her kit. The healing is fine, it’s the anti healing that should be looked at. Yes, this makes her weaker but thus isn’t a great way to achieve that.

200hp Widow, with 33% less grapple cooldown, but 2.5sec damage over time on ScopedShots wouldn’t kill Widow either.

Much less 60% damage reduction between 35 to 45m range.
