Please add this option, I live in Australia and for some reason or another there are games where everyone gets chucked onto a Singapore server (I’m assuming) so people have between 120-200 ping (I sit on a solid 133 ms), when everyone is playing with ping that high projectile characters like Junkrat and Pharah become so OP and I don’t feel its very “competitive” winning/losing games because the ping is too high to avoid Junkrat explosives.
If there are no servers to be found below the maximum acceptable ping then simply display a warning on the queue interface, I’d rather not play at all if the Sydney servers are down then get chucked onto a Singapore server.

I don’t think ping is much of an issue
currently watching Valkia (pharah main). He’s from EU, playing on NA servers. He has 140ms latency, while others are in the 40-80. he does fine.
even at high latency, if a McCree shoots a pharah on McCree’s screen, the pharah will take dmg.
Ping is a major issues for anyone playing at a high level that prefers a hit-scan hero. Even playing at 48ms regularly I notice times where my shot SHOULD have landed but when I watch the kill cam I’m seeing an entirely different story from the other players perspective.
Have you ever played an FPS on lan vs online? The difference in accuracy is night and day.

i suggest nothing higher than 90-100 otherwise its just too hard to have any fun playing

No regs literally ruin a hit scans life, like getting chucked into a west coast server later at night when i live on east coast.
They will just experience taking the damage slightly later. Playing at 200 and above ping isn’t really possible imo.
funny story:
I am from EU. I played on Korean servers once (PTR) with 400ms ping. stable, but high. I played widow, and had some shots

(just watch a few seconds)
high ping won’t affect your aim. it will just make you die more because the enemy might see you before you do.

Pretty much what I’d set my maximum ping to if I could
It’s ridiculous getting chucked on a server that gives you a higher ping than that just to cut down queue time
I totally agree with you, when I play at 20-30ms ping the game feels responsive and honoring my hard trying. But right now I’m getting at best 60-80ms ping, it just feel unplayble with any high skill hero. I’m using a 144fps monitor too, and I can see it is not fluid and the latency when I hit.
I’m only master btw. And I feel I could hit diamond by playing stuff like winston, and only platin with the rest.
Feel sorry for myself; and all people with bad ping; that like multiplayer reactions game like fps.
whaattt dude! I just saw your video and you still say the only thing changing is reaction time?..why are you lying to yourself? Your shot at Ana was pure luck because she walked right away to the place were you shoot when you shoot. You hit the Mccree and he didnt get hit by your bullet because the server took a while to receive your message, imagine playing that scenario every time you play…you would hate the game.
When I dont even think about it. The moment I think about ping its unacceptable.
Necroing this because it’s still an issue.

< 80 ping.
Personally, I prefer < 30… I actually 100% notice anything higher than 30.
The input lag is ridiculously noticeable… especially on Ana.
Still no fix to this problem?!
My ping is 1-5 in CS:GO. 40-500 in this game. I don’t know where the closest servers are located, but I guess there are none in north Europe. But I would at least like to play on the servers closer. Even 50 ping is quite high… that’s what we used to have in 2002 in other games.
In overwatch whether a shot lands or not is based on client side rather than server side so ping actually shouldn’t affect it much.
Aka if the McCree jumps around a corner where you can’t see him in real time, but on your screen he is still peaking out you can still kill him even though you shouldn’t be able to because in real time he’s behind a wall but on your lagged screen he hasn’t gotten there yet.
Well, since it’s necroed… 120 ping max for hitscans and 160 max for the rest. That’s what I usually get and my ping decides what I play, not me lol
Well, it doesn’t really matter if someone can play well with 140ms. It’s not 2001. Nobody should have to play with 140ms when they have a 10 000mbit connection. I get disappointed whenever my ping is above 5 in CS:GO. 40-60 was okay in 2003, but today? And now we’re talking 140…
There is a upper limit, over 200 ping, hitscan shots become very unreliable. Also high ping player can get shot behind cover a lot. Some hero are also unplayble with high ping, for example, hog and doomfist. Their ablities become very random with high ping, other player can escape your hook before you can even fire a single shot. Doomfist punch also went through enemy players at high ping.
I qued with a friend didnt realize he was on NA but on southeast asia servers and my normal 30ms went up to 210avg lmao Its extremely noticeable. No widow for me at that ping lmao.
Again, in other, better games, there are limits you can set manually, like CS:GO. I have my limit at 25… or is it 50? Can’t remember. That’s the LEAST the game should allow. Putting players from different continents together is retarded. Doesn’t matter if the game can “compensate” the lag so it won’t affect as much as in another game when you have 100+.
