“What is luck but an excuse for inexcusable showings of foolishness?”

Currently the CEO of Talon’s facade corporation, Maximilien is one of the most wealthy Omnics on Earth, owing his success to his literal supercomputer-level ability to predict trends and act upon money-making opportunities. For the same reason, he is also the tactical mastermind behind Talon’s most successful operations, such as the assassination of Mondatta. The perfect manipulator, Maximilien is capable of convincing and using anyone to do his bidding while still maintaining their illusion that they are in control. While a stark skeptic of the concept of luck, mostly due to his awareness of all relevant factors and variables, he is more than willing to use luck as a tool of manipulation and justification. Using nanobots developed for him by Sombra, Maximilien now takes to the battlefield so that he may help more directly in Talon’s plans. That, however, does not mean he will be in the line of fire, as he much prefers to fight as he lives: through manipulation. His motives for helping Talon- even becoming a Council Member- are unclear, as Talon very obviously wishes to pit humanity against the Omnics once again, although the simple prospect of accumulating more wealth is a distinct possibility.

I always thought of Maximilian having gambling based abilities.

Throw a 2 dice roll that depending on the number could give different attributes

1-3 Heal 50 HP
4-6-Shields/Armour to surrounding allies
7-9-Mercy Damage boost 15 secs
10-11- Invincibility 7 secs
12- Free Ultimate

Weapon: Deck of Cards (with charge options):

Regular Attack Each hand throws a card alternately (like Zenyatta does with his basic attack) but starts curving the further away it gets.

Hold down attack button for 1-2 secs for a Small charge to Pull two cards out of his sleeves and throw them in an X style formation.
(This ability has piercing so can go through 1 enemy e.g. Reinhardt and hit two if they’re in the path behind him.)

Hold down attack button for 4-5 secs for a Big charge where he has enough for a full deck of cards then fire multiple cards in quick succession.
(Similar to how a Professional Card dealer would deal cards)

Ultimate: Jackpot?
I would say he has a similar style to Zenyatta’s Transcendence, but instead he starts up a whirlwind of cards and poker chips dealing damage and knocking foes back, like Roadhogs ultimate but shorter range and more of an AOE attack than a facing in a cone shape. Also he doesn’t have invincibility while in this mode but damage from the sides in greatly reduced but top or bottom he can be hit from the top or bottom as is forms like a doughnut style shape around him.

  1. Passive- Maybe “Losers Luck” the lower the health Maximilian has the luckier he becomes with his dice roles. (I.e. increased chance of getting higher numbers the lower health he is.)?

I feel It might suit his style of running a casino and it would allow Blizzard plenty of ideas for Skins relating to Money, Wealth, Tricksters and Magicians.

Thank-you for Reading

That was an idea I had for Max originally, but I thought it would be nearly impossible to balance and rather unfun to have a hero based on luck. Instead, I took the “man behind the curtain” approach where he’s kinda like this puppet master and manipulator. Imagine a cross between James Bond and Don Vito Corleone; he’ll make you an offer you can’t refuse, and if you disagree he’ll kill you with some crazy tech.

This is an awesome hero concept, but it seems like something insane for the fast paced action of Overwatch. With the mind control ultimate, do you need to see your target? If so, It would be like throwing a Rip Tire in the middle of an Enemy team. If not, then it would seem like a just rediculously overpowered ability. So, if there was a middle ground between that, it would be crazily good.

I’d imagine you’d have to be in LoS

Would it even make sense to use it? Essentially you get to play as a specific character except with no ultimate and 50% speed. That doesn’t sound advantageous unless Maximilien has almost no health and needs to contest a point.

The idea would be that it essentially causes the enemy to temporarily lose a team member while Maxie retains the same number of team members. It essentially acts as a way to hard-disrupt the enemy team’s coordination by causing a teammate to essentially appear in the middle of their team while essentially instantly removing one of their teammates

If it requires LOS this would essentially lead to Maximilien suiciding right?

I don’t know. I feel like EMP seems to already do this to an extent.

I mean it would be the same LoS mechanic as Zen’s Orbs (I’m pretty sure the concept includes that you would only be able to control enemies with nanobots on them?) so if they’ve been out of LoS for less than 3 seconds when you activate the ult it will still work, and it’s not like killing Maxie would completely cancel the ult either, like Junk’s tire
