it removes any and all counterplay from the support role.
you have 2 options.
let them die.
jump in heal them for the 2 seconds it takes from them the swich targets and melt you instead.
it is genuinely baffling that you decided to make something that blocks support ults from outside it, like you cant even beat to save someone. its horrendous gameplay design.
edit: there is technically a third option of burning the barrier but when people in gm cant even burn a 200hp mei wall, you really expect them to burn a 1500hp barrier?
do you not think that limiting where they are allowed to move is enough? they physically cannot run away, that should be more than enough.
removing a roles ability to interact with them is not healthy. its the exact reason everyone hates anti
but youre not. youre just trapped with a mid tank and the only reason it gets value is because it makes it physically impossible for you to get peel. removing the barrier and buffing him would fit that idea more.
or even just significantly lowing the health of it while keeping them trapt after it is broken and maybe reducing the buff given to compensate.
it would still either be too high health to burn fast enough without coordination or too easy to burn and the ult is back to being useless.
its not a very well designed ability.
on paper it is fine. in practice its pretty bad. it needs some from of counterplay
The counter play is a defensive ult⦠or killing him faster. That I guess is the question they want answered with that ult. Do you run, or jump in and fight.
that you have to enter into the ult to use because shields block los.
you cant run. or get peel. thats kind of the issue. it forces you into a poor position in order to help someone that has been caught out.
it takes away player agency. I cant position well as a support and then get into the ult quick enough to provide a defensive ult unless youre playing lucio but like, why would you be playing lucio?
and it would be a fine risk, if you could then get out but thats the entire point of the ult.
you either sacrifice yourself or let them die. its poorly designed.
is this a joke? its the only bit of his kit that gets valueβ¦
I really dont think he is all that great. yeah hes brainless but ive yet to come across a mauga that was actually doing anything other than farming ult with thier sustainablilty.
it really doesnt. trance does 300hps. its not that difficult to burn through it.
it also lasts for 2 seconds less than cage.
you sure shields dont block los on that? I very rarely play him so im not sure. you might be right.
cool. all 55hps will be massive.
thats nice but moira is arguably one of the few supports that wouldnt instantly die upon entering the ult due to her shift.
and her orb is probably the better choice here. shame shes kinda awful though huh
and when more than one are trapped?
I havent tested this one. the value depends on 2 factors.
do shields block los to lamp?
and do shields block lamps flight?
if the answer to either of them is yes then its value is already severely limited ontop of it being drilled into the community to hard focus lamp as soon as it appears.
no as in shields dont block it or no as in youre not sure?
5hps extra
she can, but what im saying is her and brig are the only two that can feasibly survive within it so being able to heal from outside it is far less valuable on them than it would be on anyone else.
can she fade out of it?
sure, but the enemy arent limited by the los blocking properties since its a friendly barrier. the plus 30% damage and damage resist from nano arent going to make up for the fact that their team can still interact with the ulting mauga.
if the entire team is in the ult then yeah thats great but realistically, if we are having a 5v5 within this ult, its just going to be a brawl and bap moira ana brig lw would do objectively more. if not more healing at the very least theyβd provide more value through utility.
if you cant see how being able to heal from outside would be more beneficial for people who cant survive inside then youre not someone I want to be discussing balance with
