Mauga totally broken

Since Mauga was added, the game is no longer balanced. It has too much life and does too much damage. Games featuring Mauga are not fun at all. If no changes are announced, I will be forced to cancel the game.

“Impactful” is the word of choice by the developers.

They’ll nerf him once BP sales slow down.

I find this sentence to be hilarious. “Game Canceled by KevHyde” ~Kotaku

But in all seriousness, this is right:

Heroes go into competitive 2 weeks after they are added to the game. By that point, almost everyone who plans on buying the battlepass has bought the battlepass. They’ll nerf him then. I predict December 19th is when he’ll get the nerf bat.

I’m not even convinced the strength of the new hero is tied to trying to get sales. Him and illari came out too strong. Weaver and ram were too weak. Just seems like the normal blizz new hero launch being hit or miss on their balance state. He did certainly feel weak a month ago, but the amount of buffs made him look real strong before he went live, and to no one’s surprise, he is too strong.

He’ll be nerfed by Tuesday. They know he’s broken, we know he’s broken, everyone know he is impossible to beat. Even his counters struggle against him.

Probably just means they learned their lesson the hard way

I don’t think it would have taken them 2 hero launches to know an op hero would sell more. In ow1 rarely did a hero come out pretty balanced, most were too weak or strong and got changes within a few weeks.

People either didn’t play Mauga during the Blizzcon weekend or they forgot, but Mauga was weak during that test - the only time he was viable was when he was in a mirror match. All other tanks easily handled him, so that was why they even told us in advance after that weekend that they were going to make him stronger - and it was needed.

Has nothing (or rather “nor much”) to with the BP sales. I am very sure they make much more money with the shop than with the BP, but thats another point.

Mauga kind of “needs” to be OP, for him to be played. Mainly because Ana is countering him as hard as Hog. They also want new heroes to change the meta and be strong enough so that people play them, so they can get data and change them after a while to a good place.

So you can mostly thank Ana here, that destroyed every Mauga during the tests, so that most people lost interest very fast.

  1. You cant cancel a free game
  2. The first changes always happen 2 weeks after launch, when they enter comp
  3. They will speak about him as soon as they are back from the vacation in the new year or next weeks, it depends

That is revisionist history. They nerfed Rammatra almost as much as they buffed Lifeweaver. It was definitely for Battle Pass sales AS THEY INDICATED regardless of whether or not you can personally follow. :skull:

He’ll be nerfed by the time he’s unlocked for competitive.

Remember the last new hero?

Forum people said the same thing about her on release. And look at her now.

I’m not buying op Mauga because his ult has some draw backs and you have tanks as well as supports that can cutoff his over heal.

Like you don’t want to play a Genji, Reaper, Lucio, Ramattra, McCree, or Moira into him.

But plenty on the roster can deny him.

He annoys me because you can’t even Reaper ult to kill a full health Mauga. I learned that day 1. How that got past Q.A. is a mystery to me.

But everyone, Sojourn was the exception, not the rule to how long the new hero gets to rule the meta.

I like Mauga but long-term gonna stick with Dva/Zarya/Orisa and cleave armor Winston for season 8.

His first changes were literally buffs.

12/15/2022

Nemesis Form

  • Movement speed increased by 20%.
  • Armor bonus increased from 150 to 225.

Void Barrier (Omnic Form)

  • Cooldown reduced from 15 to 13 seconds.

Why do you always seem to make sassy remarks while being wrong.

A lot of people feel that way. But they will stay. They always… oh where did he go?

Even though they nerfed Illari for comp, she still dominated for the entirety of her debut season. It wasn’t until after that they brought her more in line.

You laugh now! When the servers go down you’ll know why.

Okay, he was broken after those first changes that they made to create an incentive to purchase the Battle Pass; and then nerfed once it worked. Whatever. That was not the point which always goes over your head. We all have our quirks.

I do not remember every single balance update or your hero pool and you think it is a coincidence that Blizzard tries to sell their new heroes in a free to play game with the Battle Pass as their main source of monetization. Nobody is perfect. :joy:

And sig only got nerfed because he somewhat stands a little bit of a chance against mauga

I love their scam transparency, ngl

IMO Mauga is ok, he has very clear counters that you can capitalize on.
I’m more genuinely frustrated at how many people ignore that Mauga can very easily dismantle the enemy backline, 90% of the time they would rather shoot the enemy tank and 100% of the time completely ignore everyone and everything in a Mauga mirror match just to shoot at each other.

This dude has 2 bastion turrets, self healing, unstoppable mobility, the most oppressive ult by far, and people still complain about supports. Wild…
