Mauga = Pay to win

Congratulations to the developer who had the brilliant idea of creating a semi-immortal tank that only those who pay for the pass have access in the first few weeks. A tank that has a high number of health, self-heals a lot of ammunition, sets enemies on fire and a stolen ultimate where all you can do is drop the character and accept death. You can’t do anything balanced or it’s too weak or stupidly stolen.

It’s not pay to win though. You still get the hero on the free track. And even if you didn’t play this season, you will be able to unlock him for free next season by doing challenges. Pay to Win means paying is your only option. Also if you know anything about how hero releases work, you know they always release them OP then Nerf them to the ground.

generally in OW grinding for an op hero is pay to win, as you can pay $10 for immediate access

No but it totally is pay to win because they can’t have the new hero from minute 1, and the new hero is just impossible to beat without mirroring him, and it’ll cause them to lose their super serious important qp games for a whole 1-2 weeks and and and…

You have plenty of time to unlock him before he’s comp unlocked, you can win without him, and it’s ok if you don’t win every QP game.

P2W doesnt mean win a 100% of the time, it gives you an advantage over the others, which in fact players that pay for the BP have that advantage given how devs in the glorious thinking decided to make him absurdly OP, and that by the time he is comp unlocked they are gonna nerf him

Don’t bother arguing with em. Some no lifers don’t see annoying grind as a barrier to entry.

I don’t know how overpowered Mauga is, but do people realize how hard it is to play Reinhardt when the enemy team has a Mauga on it? He melts through shields faster than tank-form Bastion. It feels like you literally can’t play Rein unless the enemy team doesn’t have Mauga, and anyone with common sense who sees a Rein can literally just hero swap to Mauga and delete Rein’s shield in an instant.

Time sensitive pay to win is still pay to win. I’ll never agree with blizz for paywalling heroes. Only block should be on people who don’t own ow1 or the full hero unlock

I mean sure ok its apy to win, but like WTF are you gonna do about it!? These posts happen literally everytime a new hero comes out. Like Clearly its working for Blizzard, they have been using this same model for over a year now. I don’t like it at all, but like that’s what it is. You either play the game or don’t play it. It’s not like complaining about it will change or do anything.

At least low rank finally has an easy answer to Rein. The dude has reigned supreme for too long.

It’s play to win in qp.

They do this so that you will buy the battle pass…Its the blizzard scam business model.

What rating is this? I’m not even high rating and I don’t feel like Reinhardt has really been over the top or even super meta since the early days of OW1?

Only reasonable option…

AFAIR in Battlefront 2 you still could get cards that power ups your characters for free. But to get the best ones without paying it would take you several years per card.

But yeah, to get BP hero for free here it is like a week of playing the game. So deffo not pay to win

He’s getting figured out more and more every day tbh. Been in a few games where if you kill the Mauga’s supports first, he drops like a fly.

Shades of Orisa tbh.

He’s not that hard to beat using any tank that can shield damage and interrupt his burning effect.

Mauga’s most OP thing is his ability to crit constantly, which brings his damage per second up to Bastion’s assault form.

Yes, that probably should be toned down.

I didn’t pay for the BP tho. So.

he is literally mid though you’re just bad

There’s been a top 500 Role que player who’s claims he’s gotten a 75% quickplay winrate with mauga.

OFC the quickplay is notorious for throwing people in random places.

But mauga is in a odd spot where it’s technically pretty easy to cap out his dual minigun fire.

But the dude has like s76 lock on levels of aim and just mows down entire teams swapping incredibly quick.

It’s easy to reach 95% of the potential of mauga, but in a mauga mirror, the mauga that kills the other mauga 5% quicker will often always win.

Most other tanks when they’re 100/700 need a health pack.

Their mauga just proceeds to obliterate the rest of the team with overhealth making even small minute 5% advantages lead to team stomps with life steal and a 400 dps mirror gone.

Apparently to him, he dislikes Zaryas, Hanzos and Genjis more than bastions vs Mauga and Sigmas as second at high ranks.

But it’s early qp so it might be everyone learning how to play against and as him.

He still seems overtuned at least and limits most of the tank roster to basically zarya/sigma/ some doomfist.

Even if he ends up meta or not, i like playing him, but not having him be Cash locked and basically killing 7/9 of the tank roster from play into him.

Heck even when neither team has a Mauga, knowing they can’t swap to Mauga can enough of a competitive advantage to run Old hog.

if they don’t know basic positioning and cover, sure. its the same reason soldier isn’t good either. he just also PUB stomps.

Wrecking ball, Roadhog, Zar, queen all enter the chat with their ways of getting through being low. the counter to Mauga’s is just, use cover until his ability is over.
