mauga should have half hp half armor at 500 based on the patch notes but for both patch’s his hp has been 650
first patch
- Base health reduced from 500 to 350.
- Base armor increased from 0 to 150.
- Head hit volume reduced 15%.
second patch
- Mauga is now available in Competitive Play for players who unlocked him.
- Base health decreased from 350 to 250.
- Base armor increased from 150 to 250.
but hes sitting at 650 base

All tanks get an extra 150 in QP or Comp, but his base values are correct for Arcade modes and Open Queue.

thats stupid they said in every other hp change how they change the hp in the patch notes i assumed this was for the main mode and you would remove the hp for the alt modes
They just moved some more HP to armor instead of regular health, so he’ll still have the same amount as D. Va.
But that makes no sense. 250+250=500. But in the game he has 650 go at base. They’re off by 150 hp.

Someone forgot to add 50 onto the patch notes. Since it’s 350 plus 250, he should have 600 total; same as Reinhart. But he more likely has 300 base health with the 350 armor.
in role queue the tank passive gives them the extra 150 hp

Wait is that how it works. There is a tank passive for extra health instead of just increasing the health? That’s dumb.

I mean they technically are just increasing the health in role queue
It’s a part of the general tank passive that already exists

But that means patch notes are for open queue and not quickplay or comp. Why even make it confusing like that?

Yeah which can be confusing. I don’t get why they don’t just make patch notes have both the oq and rq health shown
To help make it easier to remember:
Hog has 700hp in RQ and comp. Outside of that he has 550.

ya but when the make changes the specify that mose and role queue is the main mode maybe somthing got lost and 500 is supposed to be his overall role queue hp with 350 being his open queue hp
thats super dumb and makes me hate role passives more because some tanks need more and less hap in each game modes
Pretty sure he’s had 650 since his debut, at least in RQ. But it would help if they specified which mode they were referring to. I don’t know how they calculate the total HP for tanks that have armor or shields as part of their pool outside of RQ, but I’m guessing they just take away from the base health in those instances.
yes but they said they nerfed his hp and upped his armor so thats why its confusing because your should go off your main mods role queue not open queue the off shoot game mode
It’s the way it’s worked for the better part of a year now. I think at some point most people will simply get used it (at least the people who read the patch notes, for everyone else it doesn’t really matter).
Fwiw: Mauga has always had 650 total health in role queue environments.
During his initial “free” weekend it was 650 pure health
On launch it was buffed to 500 / 150.
And for further context here: In pretty much every patch (That im aware off off hand) when theyve adjusted tank HP (since the open/role queue changes), theyve always cited it as “base” health, with the values representing the “open queue” numbers.
I agree however its dumb / confusing to do it this way. “Role queue” is obviously the core mode the game is balanced around. With that, and especially within the context of how these changes came to be, it seems silly to think of it as “Well they get a 150 buff for role queue” over “They get a 150 hp nerf in all other modes”.
They should always use the role queue HP as the “base” HP when doing patch notes.

Yes, and they did this by shifting some of his regular HP over to armor. I don’t think they said anything about nerfing his overall HP.
The reason is because they need the health to be lower in non-RQ modes.

TIL that the tank role passive includes +150 HP. That’s so silly.
Nothing else in any patch notes references arcade or OQ values by default. What’s next? Total mayhem CDs are now the default and the role passives increase them?
Okay maybe I’m being a little ridiculous with that one.
