Why on earth did you put me in a match with my team of 6 bronzes against a team of bronze, silvers, and a plat?
Guess who got potg? The plat. Guess who ran circles around our team? The plat.
Why couldn’t we get a plat on our team? Why couldn’t we get at least a gold?
I’d love to learn more about this matchmaking algorithm that says:
Hey, here’s a team of 6 scrubs with none of them in groups or voice chat. Let’s pit them against a team of 6 players, 3 of them in a group including the plat and see how it goes.
Big surprise - it was a total joke and everyone left the match upset.
How mm puts teams together depends on different things … where you a 6 stack? Did the plat actually drop to gold and his icon didn’t change yet? How low were their bronze compared to yours?
Usually both teams should have the same average SR.
Average sr is pretty ridiculous metric, though. I group with a friend nearly silver as a nearly diamond and I just solo carry unless they also have a deranked diamond on their team.

So apparently to rank up every match gotta try hard no room for errors
I don’t recall but I play marginally better than a potato and some of the folks on my team played significantly better than me (I played tank, the other tank was so-so but our support did great).
None of my team were in a group but 3 people on the opposite team were in a group which included that plat.
This feels like a textbook example of what matchmaking isn’t supposed to do. Our team didn’t have a chance and the match was completely unfun. It’s like high schoolers playing against an NBA team after they were told they’d be playing against another high school team.
The matchmaking has been broken forever and they refuse to fix it or even acknowledge it… They just just cite all this bs about all the mysterious things it “takes into account” to match your team. But half my games are like yours… all bronze, low to mid-level players against stacks with gold, plat players that steamroll you.
They don’t give af, they will never fix it, yet another thing to add on to the pile of broken issues in OW.
Lmao it’s the same in QP and comp they both basically have the same matchmaking code it will put 1-2 good players in a group with 4-5 that are questionable and have been on loss streaks jeff even stated long ago that’s how it worked.
It’s not fun meeting players that don’t know the basics of their hero’s like a diva diving properly not shield spamming/tank spamming while they get healed or a winston who thinks he’s invincible and our healing doesn’t run out and constantly dies over and over again making it a harder win… this match maker is interesting to say the least.
