i main orisa.
i’ll have good matches where me and my team spawn trap the enemy team up until i screw up an input, i’m always being healed, im wrecking ‘butt’ taking names and generally my team is by my side most of the time unless I get too aggressive. but then after like 2 maybe 3 good matches I’m placed with the most incompetent teams ever.
when on defense and the match starts they just stand on objective instead of following me to spawn trap the enemy team allowing them to gain precious ground.
the whole team just stands on objective instead of focusing on keeping the enemy team away from the objective and then when standing on the obj is actually important they just don’t and me, THE TANK, is forced to disengage and go to obj
never have healers healing me or when they do they just don’t follow me at all.
constantly pushing the exact same route.
always getting flanked so i end up with no teammates and in a 1v5.
i clear the objective with my javelin spin but my whole team just stand back, no one supporting me.
even as kiriko i will use my ult and then its my job to kill the Reinhardt because everyone on my team just stays back despite there being literally no one else near the ult path
why is ranked locked when i am an OW veteran? why do they require 50 wins? it’ll take me forever with how bad my teammates are! and what the hell am i supposed to do in the meantime?
whenever this happens i just move to damage or support get a bunch of endorsements feel good about myself and all but i just want to play my ‘dang’ main
Have fun and master the game’s mechanics. QP has hidden MMR, so technically speaking playing QP is playing ranked, it just doesn’t feel as high stakes because they will never tell you your MMR. Do you still have uneven matches with hidden MMR? Yes, and that will not change at all once you get into competitive mode.

i can most definitely master the game’s mechanic if my recent performance is any indication (although i mean tbf I am using the easiest heroes: Orisa, Bastion, and Mercy), okay maybe master is a bit strong but get really good at sure.
i dunno about have fun tho man, im too competitive. if i cant stay competitive cuz i suck (and i dont care to improve) i just quit and if it’s cause my teammates it just makes me rage (thank you rocket league (and that’s not a joke. super toxic competitive community, it just rubs off on you, i haven’t been the same since))
however i love overwatch 2 so i try
If your enjoyment has been tied to seeing your SR go up, then I think you will actually be disappointed by competitive mode in OW 2. The new system means you will get a lot less feedback. If you win and do great in a competitive match, you will not see your rank go up. You will have to win 7 more matches before you see any rank update. And the matchmaking in competitive is just as unbalanced as quick play, it might even be more unbalanced to due the rank distribution squish.
i mean i don’t care all too much about seeing my rank go up although i do like it.
what i really like about ranked is the fact that my fellow teammates are supposed to be on the same skill level as me (though this really isn’t the case a good % of the time no matter what game you play) so i avoid those trash teammates that tend to drag me down.
and i know what people say: oh its just you blah blah but after consistently losing matches where i went 31-4 in COD and reaching diamond solo in rocket league despite barely being able to dribble. i find this to be gibberish
however if ranked truly is even more unbalanced, maybe i’ll just stick to playing unranked while blazed, truly don’t have the patience otherwise and quickplay already feels one sided (i mean i almost kept a team at spawn for a whole match only until i missed up my key press in the last minute.)
I’m a new player to OW (not FPS games) and the few ranked games I played were much easier than pubs since people have a general idea of what to do.
Playing pubs is actually a great learning experience, I am at 55% winrate atm and get matched against stacked teams which forces me to read how my teammates play and adapt to that.
So instead of charging in and expecting for everyone to do their job asses the situation and use your cooldowns when you know your teammates can’t back up.
Like when playing Kiriko if you initiate with your ultimate be ready to go for a kill or wait until the teamfight starts to use it.

I’ll let you make up your own judgement when you reach ranked. But I personally don’t think this new ranked system does any better job at matching you with players of your skill than QP’s hidden MMR, people just play a little more seriously in ranked. In fact, in ranked now you can’t even see your teammates ranks anymore. I’ve had a lot of one sided matches in ranked personally (mostly in my favor actually, I’m not sure how I got a 80% win rate I’m not that good)

yeah i have to get better at situation reading as a tank, i expect my team to back me up and if they don’t well that’s their problem but i do realize that i have to learn how to work with them instead of expecting people who have been playing OW for years to be on my team.
i think im pretty good with supports however like the kirkio example i gave earlier,
we where stuck on this one section with this L shaped entrance so both teams where trying to peek each other. Reinhardt goes under half and the rest of the team is damaged so i use my ult and i push. i get Reinhardt to like 53 and force him away from his team, he puts up shield and i back off as i’m Infront of the doorway now. i go to heal someone just to realize my team is still peeking at the enemy team, no one’s gonna kill Reinhardt, and i’m a dead Kiriko (although that was because i forgot about her teleport)
cant do much if they just ignore your ult, haha.
