Matchmaking is GARBAGE

The entire enemy team has silver and gold boarders and I’m on a team with 3 people who are level 17 and under, and the other 2 are 100 and under. Who thought that THAT was balanced and fair? Like it’s infuriating because it’s EVERY GAME!

“Let’s put more seasoned players and put them against others who aren’t. Hell, let’s throw in some freshly made accounts too. That’s balanced.” If your boarder is a different color, you should not be in the same game, period. There are plenty of people who play this game to where queue times shouldn’t be an issue. Like whoever is in charge of matchmaking for overwatch, fire them. Literally anything could of been better than what it is now.

Morpheus - Do you believe skill has anything to do with borders… in this place? You think those are always real new players? Huh…

There are gold borders who are bronze and bronze borders who are GM. 9 times out of 10 the level 7’s are smurfs in my QP games and the diamond borders are plats.

And that makes it OK?

i never said it did… Its been 4 years since release and they havent changed the way they have done the matchmaking… So again always and always will. If they dont think its broken they arent going to sink time and effort into it

That is not as bad as a bunch of Randoms getting matched with a 5-6 stack, Randoms have very minimal communication if any put against a group that is most likely communicating.

With that attitude, no I imagine they won’t.

Border does not necessarily equal skill. I’m a gold border player who’s hardstuck mid plat in role queue and bottom of diamond in open queue. By your logic, I should probably be at least in mid masters because of the amount of time I’ve played. Which is odd

Yes, they are new. When I see the level 10 lucio on my team shooting me cause he thinks that’s how lucio heals his team, I’m gonna assume their not a smurf. I’m also gonna assume that the dva who rushes in alone and gets killed by the entire enemy team EVERY SINGLE TIME, isn’t a smurf.

Smurfs aren’t that common on console. I see maybe one every 10 matches. The rest are actual new players who are pitted against level 600 players.

it’s quickplay, no on cares. Also there is barely matchmaking there.

Again, border does not = skill. When are people going to get that. I am silver 4-stars does that mean I am somehow really really good then? NOPE. More like I have played for a long time and enjoy the heroes I enjoy. I can excel at times but doesn’t mean I am super great.

They might not be smurfs, they might just be grouped with someone that has higher MMR and thus got into your game that way.

Well it makes it normal.

Matchmaking has never taken Borders into account as Blizzard themselves stated because Your level doesn’t matter at all and considering I don’t meet much new players usually, I’m assuming you play in Gold or Silver (usually the skil of new players) so the MM will put new players in low ranks.

Under level 17? Is it quickplay? And if so why does it matter?

I suggest to increase to level 100 the minimum requisite to play competitive.

No-star-bronze-border players are usually beginners. This will probably reduce at least 40% of the very bad matchmakings.
This will also increase the value of bronze accounts for smurfing, so it’s a win-win situation for everyone.

I’d be amazed if the team with all the fresh bronze borders didn’t absolutely stomp the game through…

You’d think that, and for a while it was true; a low border was an indicator of it being a smurf. These days though I’ve run into quite a few genuinely low level players, the matchmaker got thrown totally out of whack when they went to the 222 system for quickplay, especially arcade quickplay.

I guess it’s just personal anecdotes on either side but virtually every low level has caused a complete stomp from my end. I just leave if I’m in qp now =\ though I’ve seen groups of super level accounts where one person has carried so hard that I haven’t really noticed the impact of the others so who knows.

Personally I’d like to be only queued up with people above silver at least :man_shrugging:t2:
