Matchmaker is broken

yes, I know, everybody knows it!
I just join the long list of people complaining, I am in good company hey?

Anyway yesterday I couldn’t win and was losing match after match, even though I played as best as ever, me think.
Tonight, I keep winning, for no particular reason…

Also, yesterday there were many duo of hitscan with bloody deadlier accuracy than they should at my bronze SR… :frowning:

Its because of forced 50/50. When the game realized you’re winning too much, it’ll give you a giant middle finger and you’ll be pulling your hair out.

While i don’t like the “bronze/unranked to gm” streams, they litterly show you that it is possible to climb with like a 90+% WR.

If you can’t do that it’s because you belong were you are.

So, you lose a lot… then start winning…

You ever thought that you lost, dropped SR and got easier games against less skilled players… so started winning.

As you climbed, players got better, but you didn’t improve so you hit a point and started losing again.

This isn’t the case. When you start winning, the game will expect you to carry other “new” players or people of lower SR which can be very frustrating.

Worse case scenario the team you try to assist will make fun of you. This is especially the case for support mains.

When is the last time you actually thanked them?

Hahaha that is a weird theory.

You just get matched with similar MMR, if you pop off you’ll gain a little more. (If under 3k).

There really isn’t some fancy nonsense going on.

But people need to make their mind up… the matchmaker is bad, or so smart it is working against you.

I’d suggest neither is true, you’re just having coincidentally good or bad matches. And humans being humans, try to justify things they won’t take responsibility for or can’t understand by making up reasons. (The origins of conspiracies, aliens and religion)

Not real, I’m up several hundred SR and the games are not getting harder, nor does it feel like the game is trying to prevent me from winning.

If you can’t win, it’s your own fault and you belong at whatever SR you’re currently at.

If this is true, then smurfs wouldn’t exist.

Not really, even they rarely go to bronze to GM without losing a single match. Which tends to prove that even if your “Real rank” is hundreds if not thousands of SR higher you can still lose.

But yes matchmaker is a joke. Que times was getting nuts with DPS times over 10 minutes, some times even with the priority pass. So they reduced match maker restrictions, tossed in cross play etc.

Mysteriously with no real changes to the game itself or hero balance to make support/tanks more attractive to play que times have been cut in half. Over the last 2 years or so of OW 2 development when nothing has been going on Blizzard has been reducing restrictions on the match maker.

Anything to keep the game going and hide the dwindling player base.

Smurfs aren’t a product of the match maker.

They are a product of a tiny % of players wanting to troll games and have a laugh.

You won’t be playing with or against them that often.

Have you forgotten how many smurfs are scattered across on consoles?

Did you forget crossplay already?

Please tell me you’re joking.

I play pc and console.

On PC there is no need to worry about crossplay. I’ve never encountered a console player.

On console, you occasionally meet alt accounts. Smurf accounts less often.

What are you talking about? Yes there is. We can’t turn it off, yet console can for some odd reason.

2 reasons.

  1. I play ranked. Never an issue.

  2. In group finder you have an option to show you PC only groups.

So no, no need to worry about it on PC.

You might occasionally play against console players in QP, but it’s QP there is nothing on the line and if you’re getting annoyed by anything in QP matches… you need to take a break.

Yeah, just play comp. 4Head

Wasn’t you second solution NOT playing a game? You’ve been making bogus posts everywhere. I wouldn’t be surprised if people passed you off as some troll-in-a-hole police thread wannabe.

Nothing better to add so you attempt personal attacks… lol

I played QP to lvl 25 the have only played ranked since. Hated playing QP as it felt like a poor translation of the game. And the arcade modes carry little interest for me.

Good for you. Now that I know that useless information for your stroked ego, the X button is on the top right corner.

When you reach number rank 1 in T500, come back to me so I can give you an awesome pat on the back.

Not sure what you’ve added to the conversation there. You’ve just derailed it.

Should be more careful when you do that.

But you’ve essentially just had a tantrum, because someone disagreed with you. Interesting way to behave

Or maybe you should heed my advice, hide your forum profile, and hit the X button.

I don’t agree with this. You know what smurfin to GM is like? It’s the equivalent of Pro Athletes starting over in High School, and carrying themselves all the way back to the pros. Through college and everything. That’s not the same as a young athlete working his way up for the first. Sure some will be more talented/skillful than others, but it’s unlikely they would be able to consistently carry their team to a championship as easily as it would be for that smurfin pro athlete.

Now back to this game…a GM who has hours and years of experience at that level, can definitely carry his way back into Gm. But it’s not just his skill. It’s his game sense, his experience with all the characters, his perfected controls that changed & developed over time, familiarity with every nook and cranny for the maps, and general game knowledge. Mid tier players can’t learn most of it- they have to experience it. Being put onto teams with casual who refuse to educate themselves on the do’s and don’t’ s of Overwatch can hold these players back.

Maybe it’s a time thing and the players striving to get out of low SR just need to keep improving on their skill, but honestly it shouldn’t have to be: “I need to get to Super Saiyan 3 before I can carry these bad teams.” No. If you’re skilled enough to get to Super Saiyan 2, consistently give me teammates who are also Super Saiyan 2 so we can move up quicker and actually have fun in competition. Why are you giving us a bunch of Bronze Krillins & Yamchas to carry?? They’re holding me back. (Sorry for DBZ reference/analogy).
