I cannot fathom what goes inside the minds of the people in charge of the QP MM.
It handicaps experienced players so much (I get paired up with brand new players who are literally <50 levels or have no endorsements!) that losing 10+ times in a row is the norm as a healer.
Further, taking into account the fact that the carry potential of the roles is skewed against healers, carrying a QP team as a healer is oftentimes impossible when no one on your team knows how to position or get kills.
This is clearly not purely random matchmaking, because if such were the case, the expected win rate should be 50%, not <40% like it’s sitting for me. Yes, they’re handicapping the living hell out of OW1 players, or so it seems.
There’s no way a match should result in the elims ratio between teams going above 10. I think the guy who designed this most certainly has a double-digit IQ.
Wow, what a dogsh*t game.
Inter-role balance is out of whack and, to add fuel to the fire, the matchmaker was probably made by degenerate animals that have lost more than half of their brains to some consumptive disease.
This game won’t last if they don’t fix this crap.
I read another thread just now that claimed it’s possible Blizzard is rigging the matchmaking because they want noobs to see your cosmetics and be jealous, that way new players can be milked more effectively for money.
Not defending the MM, just trying to understand it.
I have never been an experienced player, I played OW1 a good amount and left during season 10, but I have the same issue: games are so unbalanced in both directions, sometimes we get absolutely demolished by far more experienced players, in other cases we win without even sweating one drop.
This makes no sense, am I good or or bad? Match me with people just like me, and not the entire pool “bottom 50%”, of course if I’m a plat amongst bronze 5 I’ll be their savior.
Even during the hard matches I literally have more damage than dps, AND IM PLAYING KIRIKO IN QP, how does this make sense?
People do care, and that’s why they respond.
Why did you even respond if you don’t care?
You don’t fare well in logic, maths, or sciences, do you?
Nah. People been complaining about both QP and comp matchmaker since the dawn of time. Even before the game came out. It’s tru. I was there.
While I’m still optimistic enough to hope that that’s not the case, what I do feel is the case is that QP MM just wants to make a match quickly, so it does this by “averaging” the skills of the two teams. If it tried to match SR for SR on both teams it would take even longer. Unfortunately, averages work in such a way that a GM + 4 Bronze = 5 Golds so the matches never feel good.
Yeah, that’s what it’s called quick play though. If you wanted to wait longer for a more picky skill algorithm, that’s what competitive mode is for.
It’s nothing new to have a bronze and gold in one game. It’s been like this since the beginning.
Maybe instead of telling the devs
you should try to improve your own gameplay or even better just uninstall it because nobody wants players like you here. Absolutely vile. Please seek help.
QP MMR was disabled in beta for the sake of fast queues, due to the limited population (not that QP MMR was all that great to start with). And considering it feels almost identical to what we have now, i’m pretty sure they never turned it back on.
I do think the QP matchmaker is whack. I think it doesn’t care, thinks absolutely newbies are “Gold” MMR (or should start there), and/or balances like this:
Team 1:
MMR 2000 x1
MMR 1000 x4
Team 2:
MMR 1200 x5
Unless the 2k person is a role/character that can directly carry, the “fair” match is actually greatly in the favor of Team 2. When your team is literally feeding, it’s tough to 1v5, like really tough. And it’s really frustrating to play with people who are leagues worse than you. Losing is ok, but not being able to even play because your teammates are just slapping keys is emphatically NOT ok.
I will say the Comp matchmaker is better. In fact Bronze matches are better than QP matches, if you can believe that. I was placed in Bronze as support due to the bug, and now I’m Silver 2 after 23 matches with 61% win rate. Bronze it’s tough to carry because of all the feeding, but somehow even though Bronze players are absolutely garbage the matches feel waaay better than QP more often than not.
guy’s had 6 years to dazzle us with MM, ranked system, and ladder design improvements.
instead OW2 has slipped further into the rigging tech with aim-based i/o rigging to go with all the other data-based rigging. not an ounce of transparency or any decent commentary. it’s time to show up for work, scott
