Match Quality - So Poor

Matches are the most terrible part of Overwatch 2 (not calling it Overwatch, that died with Jeff and og crew).

I have no idea how they dont improve it, it seems to just get worse and worse. Every season they learn more, add ‘more’ yet manage to take the game further back in regards to skin quality, map quality and match quality.

I mean that’s the thing, the game doesn’t need more stuff. It’s needs a lot of refinements of the systems it already has, better balance for the heroes we already have, improvements to maps to make them less snowbally etc

Now the problem with that is our devs are not competent enough to do those things so the MUST just come out with slop content to keep engagement instead. Look how even performance has been guttered.

The hard thing is making the really polished game. When you can’t do that, you go the gacha route, slam out content like 5 heroes at once even if you can’t balance 1 at a time. It’s actually sad.

Its like it has got all the terrible parts of a game like fortnite baked into it now. I use to look at fortnite and think it looked terrible, f2p with really crap graphics and slop skins to raise money.

Every update seems to push Overwatch closer to that reality :frowning:

They cant because its actually the playerbase thats getting worse and inturn lowering matchquality.

Predetermined outcomes. Games are always onesided stomps and never equally skilled. Groups abuse this knowledge and bypass it / cause it even more.

The quality of matches is definitely the #1 problem in the game right now. Many other aspects are at least “okay”. We got a new map - it’s actually good. The new hero - actually good. Yes Anran and Cat are absolute scum in the wrong (right?) hands and need to be deleted - but even that’s okayish.

Match quality on the other hand? People don’t want to tank again. People only want to DPS, or stick to their supp’ing as before. That seems to be down to a couple of things not least of which is: most new picks are dps, with a couple of edgy OP supps.

Add to that the weekly-farmers. And you’ve got an absolute recipe for disaster.

What’s weird is quick play seems to have great matchmaking, but comp is the biggest s storm I’ve ever seen. I think they need to stretch the ranks, the are too many people in the gold plat range and too much variance between the players

That’s bait.

This game still has a ton of brand new players. Coupled with all the new heroes they’re releasing.

Until the hero release cadence slows down (if it ever does), balance will be all but an after thought. It’s hard to maintain when new heroes keep being added and stirring the pot.

Back when heroes were only released every 3 months or so, there was enough time for things to settle down and for the new hero to find their place in the meta (or have their numbers tweaked until they did).

I’ve been playing this game for years and I’m still learning how to play around the initial batch of 5 heroes they released all at once.

or just a different experience. I find comp to be a nightmare while most qp games are super chill and usually pretty well matched
