So, i keep reading here people claiming that their friends that are Masters or GMs, tried to help them and end up being incapable of climbing out of bronze/silver/gold/plat so, i would like to hear from masters and GMs their opinions and if they have experienced this, please, cause for me, its sounds really fishy, thanks so much!
- I call bull.
- It’s a different game in gold, if you rely at all on your team then you’re doing it wrong.
They’re lying. Plat is kind of a hellhole because it’s where all the masters go to smurf, but escaping it still doesn’t take too long.
You still lose games in these ranks, but maintaining a 65+% winrate isn’t hard once you realize you have to play a bit differently than you do at GM.
If anything the main of the gm/master player might have something to do with it. its a lot easier to carry with some heros than others.
And the problem here is that there are GM/Masters in gold to begin with.
yes, but if you are a gm yourself, sounds really weird to say that is imposible to go up from there to gm again, and that is what people are claiming a lot here.
Yeah that what i was thinking… thanks so much! hope everyone could have the correct mindset to climb if they read the opinion from masters and gms thereselfs.
I peaked 3600 and just played some tanks i struggled with until dropping to 1800 or so got comfortable with them (my tank is like high plat-low diamond on the ones I am comfortable with) and blitzed through to plat already with no issue. Once playing DvA in particular clicked for me I took it from that like 1800 to 2500 mostly playing her in a matter of about 3 days.
you can bronze to gm on legit any hero so it’s not that.
not saying its impossible, its just a lot easier on some heros. but you can do it regardless.
You can see some streamers doing unranked to GM on heroes or roles they never play and get sort of soft stuck at maybe low diamond.
Yet a large chunk of that is they honestly don’t really even care being they already know they are a GM player x10+ seasons or whatever.
It’s probably not true, or they WERE masters/GM in a completely different meta ages ago.
I am masters if I play meta, mid to high diamond otherwise, and I just one tricked an off meta non-barrier tank to 3100 from 1500 only losing 2 games on the way IN TWO AFTERNOONS. I don’t believe for a second that a GM player couldn’t get out of gold.
What he’s getting at is that with other masters/gm’s in that bracket it’s smurf vs smurf with the other players being fodder. So no they can’t breeze through with like skilled players in lower brackets.
Ah, were you just looking for an echo chamber? Found it and self confirmed your own hypothesis?
There’s a lot of factors, and yeah, I somewhat agree it should theoretically be easy for a masters+ to climb out, but with the Smurfs coming down for the lols and quicker q’s, screwy matchmaker, boosted/lucky players, leavers, teams that don’t gel etc etc. game outcomes can really be pretty random when solo queuing.
These guys might be more mechanically gifted than us, and have better game sense, but a few of them are also ruining the integrity of the ladder through smurfing (and throwing to stay at lower ranks) and some of them can be utter douchebags. Their opinion on anecdotal evidence doesn’t hold any more water than ours. The ones that play properly without smurfing won’t have an opinion because they havn’t experienced the thing you’re asking about.
Yeah i think is possitive to everyone to just read the oppinion of actual gms and masters about climbing, and if its true that they cant, we will found out, if its not, we will have a thread that gets everyone maybe on the right mindset, sorry if it bothers you, was with the best intentions of clarifing this out.
And yeah im asking to people that experienced this, i thought that the topic was clear enought, but every opinion is valid.
They are lying to feel better about themselves.
Not bothered, don’t get me wrong, I agree to a point, but you seem to be asking for opinions from players that are more than likely part of the problem. Players that have deranked to play in the lower ranks for whatever reason, quicker q’s or stomping for self gratification. Morally bankrupt players whose opinion holds no weight.
we atleast could listen a lot of opinions of actual gms n masters, im new to the game, its been hard to climb, and getting harder every game, all those post about being imposible to climb from gold/plat are depressing me too, so this is for players like me that enter in this forums, reads all those threads, and kind of feel down about whats written.
I was watching a Kabaji “one sitting gold to GM” stream. Unranked to GM: Tracer ONLY in ONE SITTING (EDUCATIONAL) - Kabaji - YouTube. He was 4641 SR at the time and I believe he was number 1 on the ranked ladder. He was going full tryhard because, like I said, it was a single stream session and so every loss would extend the length of time he’d have to play in what would already be a brutally long single session. He got 75 elims with 75% kill participation. He BARELY won that match. His team finally won 3-2 in over time. In fact, his team WAS losing despite constant picks, and so he had to get on mic and start coaching them, as it was clear that he couldn’t just hard carry without directing them. His next match in platinum, directly after that one, he lost. If Kabaji is barely winning a match at gold and actually lost in plat (with I believe 71% kill participation), how in the world can someone at gold at plat expect to consistently carry? Because the algorithm is seeking to re-create the same sort of matchmaking odds, match after match, there’s no reason to assume that Kabaji wouldn’t have struggled and or lost in subsequent matches at lower levels, had he not been whisked away up the SR ladder by performance-based matchmaking. This means there are some percentage of matches at the gold and plat level that even a top 500 player would not only struggle in, but in which they would lose.
These streamers and top tier players who go from unranked to GM are doing placements and then are quickly whisked away out of lower level play, and as they play with better players, it is actually easier for them to carry because they’re playing in a team environment where they’re supported by their teams rather than working against them. I have yet to see a streamer get on an account that’s already well into gold and grind all the way up to GM. Kabaji’s experience would suggest that it wouldn’t be as easy as all the “git gud” people suggest.
The moral fiber of these players is irrelevant. The only relevant factor is whether or not they were playing at maximum effort with the goal of winning.
What are basing “they’re lying” on besides speculation that bolsters your argument? You literally have no idea whether they’re lying or not, do you? And if your answer is yes, prove that it isn’t just speculation. Provide the facts and the proof that they’re lying.
yeah of course i think 1 of every 3 games (round up, not literally) is completely lost, but winning 2 out of 3 you will still climb, everyone has those games, tottaly unbalanced teams, but u are saying that the game put you on purpose in this teams? seems kind of random to me tbh
