The incompetence of the Overwatch 2 devs is impressive. This patch brought an absurd memory leak, the game allocating bytes and reallocating each frame of the game, and MASSIVE disk usage (even though it was SSD) even though the game idle in the main menu.
Also the game is allocating memory to the limit of system RAM without even using it.
This allocation and deallocation every frame causes the processor to waste unnecessary time, causing numerous crashes, FPS drops and freezes.
Where is the QA team who is completely blind and didn’t see this? Guys… Does “Free to play” games mean turning into a big package of poorly optimized and horribly code?
I REALLY miss the old overwatch 1 devs when it was paid game. Simply put, this kind of ridiculous problem would NEVER be in the retail build or if it were minutes later they would make an emergency patch to fix it.
But this problem will probably take WEEKS for Blizzard to see the problem in Overwatch 2.

I also noticed that the whole engine is performing really poorly now Text like victory or defeat outline appearing first without the next appearing people just being floating dots, sometimes huge lack spots I’ve checked the Network Side and tis showing a Latency of like 14 so not Network Related

Agree on the memory leak. Sitting on the main menu my ram usage goes from like 30% - 100% in a few minutes.

I agree completely about the memory leak.. I tried to play a few games and because of the massive jump in RAM usage it caused my PC to crash.
I’m going to test this tonight. Will see exactly what kind of memory usage it grabs, how much it peaks, and everything. Those interested, look me up at around 9pm East.
Update:
The amount of memory usage by Overwatch.exe is low on average.
The most it was trying to use at one time was about 9GB, during a 6v6 QP match. Other games ranged from 7-8GB. And after dropping to menus, the usage would drop all the way down to under 3GB.
No memory usage issues at all. I suspect there may be other factors causing some of you issues where your memory is being used up. But then we need to look at your problem case by case with details on your system, configuration, etc.
same here. ryzen 3600/amd 5700 xt
Launched the game → played some arcade-> quit to main menu and commit was 11 gigs. Came back after 10 minutes and it was almost 15 gigs
Come on guys, I know nu-blizzard is not what it used to be to put it mildly, but this is embarassing. Even if its just an AMD card problem.
oh sh*t i didnt realize blizzard is so incompetent not only can u not attach images to ur posts, but links get removed automatically if you are new to the forum (?) even despie the fact that i have had this account with blizzard in good tanding for almost 20 years (!)
anyway just wanted to report that on my pc commit size for overwatch in task manager is 15.5 gigs (!) on 16 gigs of ram (!!)
