So, over the last few days, myself and a number of others have reported massive frame drops and stutters. I’ve done a bit of system checks to try and figure out what’s going on. But I’ve got some weird results.
To start with, here’s my system details.
But here’s where things get weird. When this happens:
It doesn’t cause any CPU cores to go to 100%, so it’s not CPU bogging down.
The GPU isn’t maxing out either. It’s not pushing the GPU too far.
The disk read/writes aren’t maxing out.
Kernel shows no oddities via journalctl -f
Steam logs don’t mention anything out of place either.
Here’s where it gets really weird though…
If the target FPS is 140, it drops down into the 60s.
If the target FPS is 240, it drops down to 140s.
Also, the frame drops don’t apply when you’re dead and watching kill cams.
There also seems to be some severe server instability with both OW and D4. It’s crazy that one of the biggest gaming companies in the world uses such terrible servers with minimal coverage.
Unfortunately, there is no support for Linux environments, only Windows. In my experience, the staff only look into problems occurring on their supported platforms/hardware listed on the system requirements.
I use Win 10 i have this in Classic Modes only, most bad is Temple of Anubis, aFPS goes down to 15-30 other maps run better.
I play normaly with 360 aFPS.
They are saving money by cutting server capacity. They do it all the time. Its been worse than this but it is bad right now.
When the servers are good abd capacity is good the game is smooth. When its bad it plays like trying to run in a swimming pool and kill cams dont match actual game experience or even location sometimes.
