I’ve stopped playing regularly months ago. I still keep up with the patch notes and lurk on these forums, but the most I play these days is to sample the game right after a patch, or impulsively buy up all the new cosmetics when a new event releases.
Sombra’s rework has turned out to be pretty fun. The gamesense and battlefield analysis involved reminds me of Mercy 1.0, once you actively worked to master tempo rezzing.
Addendum: reading your addendum was uplifting. I’m glad I was able to change at least one mind with this thread.
And it not only happened… It happened Often.
Nowadays, people know better… And it would actually Be a team effort from both sides.
(I actually genuinely think it may not even need a cast time… But hey, they will never be happy.)
I’ll be here watching the game’s development until the day they fix Mercy and Bastion.

It’s sort of like how low health DPS will come after a Mercy and be somehow shocked when Mercy manages to kill them. One of the problems with Mercy back then had nothing to do with her kit, it had to do with the fact that the general community never considered Mercy a threat until she rezzed. That was the only time she ever factored in their minds, and that’s often why she was able to pull off those same “unfun” rezzes everyone complained about.
It’s the same way with Bastion, at least… Now it is…
It doesn’t matter how low someone is, they WILL Chase you.
I have had Genji players straight up rage quit after killing them (They’ll be on like, 10 health) After they chase me into OUR Team’s backlines.
And then the cycle begins… Being heavily focused, but when left alone, can’t even do much.
I would Hate To see Mercy end up that way.
And it’s pretty obvious that no matter what they do to her, she’ll be heavily focused from now on.
Yet another reason why one of the most common topics pre-rework was “give Mercy an E abilty”. If she had something in her base kit that affected enemies, Mercy would have been able to figuratively yell at the enemy “what am I, chopped liver? I’m still here, ya knuckleheads!”
Say it louder for the people in the back! Out of focus =/= out of LoS! Out of LoS =/= hiding across the map!
Silawatsi literally said they don’t want Mercy to be reverted…
It you can think of a Rez that isn’t any more powerful than current Rez, I’m down for it.
Keeping in mind that current Rez only averages about 6 per game, and is difficult on top of the objective during a teamfight.
People were complaining about Grav itself being too powerful, Hanzo just made it too reliable with his ult being everywhere. But Zarya was a problem with how much she could grab even healers on the edges of the team like MOira…
So they nerfed that aspect and gave her a slight buff in return
Quite literally all of these things were suggested, and Mercy mains argued that any of them would make her trash tier. Maybe Blizzard “listened to the community” in trying a different approach.
After having been gone the bulk of the time since the nerf, in my short time back around here I’m starting to wonder if the reason balancing her has taken so long is that Blizzard is afraid of a large nerf to her at once pissing you guys off.
I didn’t really have much of a complaint regarding Grav, except that the visual made it hard to guess where the AoE was. Aside from that, I think it was fine. As I recently made a suggestion to change the size of the visual to match the AoE, I feel somewhat guilty for the actual nerf, despite asking for the opposite.
I mean it went hand in hand with an over all buff so it’s certainly not one of the things people should be up in arms about, letting Zarya maintain hcharge for longer that makes it a lot harder to deal with her base mode.
Not to mention that will also lead to an increase in her ultimates availability so over all this is the same if not a buff against certain builds.
I never liked mass rez honestly, but I think adding a small aoe burst heal upon activation would fix its issues.

Why not just swap Valkyrie to an ability and make rez an ult again but with a slight adjustment?
Valkyrie as an ability would just give her the ability to fly for 6 seconds however she doesn’t gain any of her buffs from her past Valkyrie.
Mass resurrect would be the same, however it has a 2 second channel in the process. Although to make up for the downside, while channeling, she still can use her staff/pistol.
Zarya wasn’t nerfed per se. In place of her smaller grav, she can maintain high energy for longer – which in turn means getting even more gravs than before. Her ult charges faster, that previous good Zaryas can get them 2x more often.
Current Mercy averages the same as old Mercy. This is because Rez had to be built and was used to tempo Rez more than mass rez, despite popular belief.
This is true, but it’s also true that Invuln Mass Rez + Valk would be would be more powerful than current rez + Valk.
Who’s smart idea was invulnerability anyway? Damage reduction would’ve been much better…
