The only thing people would accept is 5v5 and RQ being completely removed and PvE to actually happen. They’re not really going to do either of these things though and probably only plan to stick to their same schedule they have never really deviated from for 9 years.

For that, with their homemade engine they will need a team of very sophisticated programmers to do that, possible with a few PdH programmers/engineers. It will be a decent investment.
Meanwhile Rivals can do it with a very small team of simple game developers, mostly of those things are already developed for UE5 and exist as plugins/frameworks. As you said, there is 12 years old kids creating simple games using UE5.
Given that, Rivals has the possibility to advance much more faster than OW.
I’ve seen how Rivals runs on my 4090 lol (not well!). And I’ve seen that Epic themselves can’t even manage to get Fortnite to work properly in DX12 mode.
It really isn’t as simple as flipping a switch, even with UE5.
Hearing that makes me glad of having an AMD GPU. Never had big issue with any UE5 game.
In fact I had more problems with OW who decided to run at 40/50 FPS during the first 3/4 mins after launching the game, then after some time it goes normal to 144 FPS.
It would probably run ok at 1080 or 2K (maybe? I’ve heard otherwise though). I’m running at 4K, 144hz and have no problem doing that with Overwatch. Rivals, not so much.
This. It killed OW for me personally so fast, that I had no chance to even process this. Have not played one game, since Rivals launched and the devs give me no reason to even try out OW again, because nothing changes.
The next BP seems to be boring chinese stuff again (a theme I dont like at all), so seems like I skip the next season completely. Combine that with the fact that rivals gets 2 heroes soon and then a new hero every 6 weeks, it seems like OW will fall further and further behind and I dont know if I even come here anymore, when the next season of OW flops as hard as this one did.
Honeymoon Phases usually lasts 6 months. Helldivers 2, being as mindless and trash at it is, lasted about that long before Playstation gave them an excuse to leave it behind.
Yes, people need petty excuses that doesn’t have anything to do with the gameplay to leave games behind (also applies to relationships, jobs, etc…) because people in general are stupid.
Rivals hasn’t done anything to make people mad yet and it’s free to play. Dumb dumbs in America will eat it up because look at their president, the judgement of American-anything is about as worthy as stale bread.
Once OW returns to China, the numbers will start to dwindle. Chinese players prefer the quality of OW.
I don’t think, that more heroes is good, especially for OW where some heroes have broken state, op or weak, or good on low ranks, bad on high ranks. Every new hero will opress others, also cause most of them still was designed with OW1 philosophy. What we need? Reworks for some heroes, quality skins, more maps, interesting events, pve, lore and something like that. Not the new heroes firstly

Thats a funder mental OW problem, but new heroes are the main driving factor that keeps the game fresh. If they stopped with new heroes, OW would lose the rest of its players very fast. They need to fix this “oppression” problem and start reworking problematic heroes from the ground up and stop caring about “hero identity”, when its harmful for the game.
Rivals kind of shows how its done right. Still need to find a situation, where one hero is unplayable, because of another hero.
They went from complaining about the game to becoming shareholders.
