Why does this work?
This only seems to help with weapon attacks where you have to continually hold the crosshair on target but when I have fire mapped to Shift key or Alt key I can track way more accurately, far less overshooting or undershooting.
Seems to be that holding down left click subtly screws with my aim when I’m trying to aim.
This doesn’t seem to help with intermittent firing weapons where you’re flicking the crosshair on target the moment you fire.
Dunno, I went the other way.
Left click = Hook for Roadhog.
Sounds reasonable that the mouse press might be messing with sniper aiming.
You want one hand to do the aiming while you use the other for shooting.
I just want to aim better and I don’t even know why it helps.
It’s definitely got downsides, conceptually it’s easier to have my left hand be for the “internal” how I move, how I use defensive abilities that protect or heal the hero I play. While the right hand is for “outgoing” abilities like primary fire and melee.

My hands are kinda big, the “XL” sized disposable sanitary gloves are barely large enough to fit my hands so I’ve never found a mouse I can use a palm grip on. It definitely isn’t a good grip but one problem with buying a computer mouse online is you can’t really test out the grip in your hand.

Depends on your mouse, your set up and personal comforts. Some people find it hard to move a mouse and click at the same time, so they tend to “Stop” the movement when ever they click.
Putting that on a keyboard sort of nullifies that issue as it’s just common to have two different hands do different things. Though now you might run into the issue of being harder to move your character around while trying to fire, aka side stepping and such.

I never noticed an issue, then again I use a track ball mouse. I control it’s movement with my thumb, which I understand is less precise. But I’ve been using for years and have a small computer desk.
I think not having to move my entire arm around to move the curser is just more important.
I should add I most often use this with sentry mode playing Bastion though it does help even in recon mode. I am fumbling a lot more with my movement being less able to dodge fire but it sure seems like my aim is just so much smoother and responsive.
Obvious answer is do both. You can bind a command to two or I think 3 keys in OW. So set fire to both left click and something on your keyboard.
Allowing you to fire with precision when needed, but also “Hip fire” so to speak with the mouse when you need to move more.
Edit: for instance I have the ability key also bound to one of my mouse 3 and 4 buttons. So I can literally have every thing on my mouse if I want, or use the shift key.
I actually tried this recently aim does improve i bound primary fire to space bar and put jump on scroll wheel, since you use right hand now solely for target tracking its easier while the shooting is just a press of button for the other hand thumb.
That said it hindered my movements a lot as it will take time to get used to not hitting space for jump, in the end i reverted as i don’t have the time to rewire now, but i can certainly see it working really well on many heros like bastion zen hanzo.
Also the mouse weight and sensitivity and button pressure all play a role.
I have logitech G402 spaceship model its pretty heavy at 144 gm so i notice more difference than someone with final mouse at 90g.
