how do map pools work in ow2? I know nothing about this

You only get certain maps each season and some disappear for a while

They should not be restricting the content of the game….did they not learn with hero pools before?

It doesn’t make seasons feel unique…it just makes them stagnate

Heres the pool itself for this season

Control
    Ilios - Evening Lighting
    Lijiang Tower - Dawn Lighting
    Oasis - Night Lighting
    Nepal - Morning Lighting
    Busan - Night Lighting
Escort
    Circuit royal – Night Lighting
    Dorado - Evening Lighting
    Route 66 - Night Lighting
    Gibraltar - Morning Lighting
    Junkertown - Morning Lighting
Hybrid
    Midtown - Morning Lighting
    King’s Row - Evening Lighting
    Eichenwalde - Evening Lighting
    Hollywood - Morning Lighting
    Paraíso - Morning Lighting
Push
New Queen Street - Morning Lighting
    Colosseo - Evening Lighting
    Esperança - Morning Lighting

oh and it just hit me…only ONE of the lighting versions of each…instead of mixing things up and picking out of the different possible lightning versions…ugh

also i will allow myself a chuckle at numbani being playable again…and not being on the list…

so like apex? wow that sucks. like why do they keep shooting their game in the foot?

They want each season to feel different so they can keep saving up content for OW3, instead of releasing new maps and heroes and balance changes.

Probably to make it easier to collect data and see how the 5v5 changes effect specific maps.

They’ll probably re-introduce the maps as “new” content of the season

Because they can artificially simulate novelty without having to actually make anything new. This is one of the worst things they’ve ever done for the game, I’m extremely frustrated that every single choice seems to be made based on monetization and metrics rather than what players want and what players find fun.

Or put them behind a “Legacy Map Battle Pass” for $25 USD.

Not paying for it will significantly increase your queue times!

And we’ll have to pay…

Dont forget that the WP pack leaked description said new maps in the BP.

Literally would not suprise me with what blizzard is doing rn.

I hate this map pool thing so much. Please.

Oh. That reminds me.

Did Midtown get removed from the pool or something? I’ve only played it in Arcade since sometime last week.

I haven’t played it in Ranked at all.

not really, that’s just a season format. they aren’t planning to make OW3 and have already said that they are testing the S8 hero and currently developing the S13 map

(this info was said in that interview in which they confirmed that the next heroes are not going to be dps characters)

Not too happy about map pools myself, always enjoy some maps more than others, and stinks when your favorite map isn’t even in rotation for 9 weeks.

Great, another way to scum people who bought ow1

I hate it so much  i guess they might take them down to tweak them more for 5v5?? Like givis us more cover to use and stuff like that?

But it’s just so boring! I don’t eant to play on the same maps on and on and on for an entire season!

Everytime they make a decision for the development of this game they roll a die. Aaron makes sure to dunk the die in dogpoop before throwing it, so they’re sure to get the desired outcome.

eh i find a lot of maps boring. sounds like itll be more fun for me

I definitely hate the map pools inclusion. They clearly weight KOTH way too high, every other map is either Busan or Lijaing. King’s row takes DAYS before showing up, which night time kings row > wtf this lighting is.
