You did that before and everyone hated it. literally, absolutely, E V E R Y O N E hated it and you do it again?!
The devs are so out of touch that I wouldn’t even be surprised if they’re deliberately trolling the community.
Map pool are good for competitive. It is a standart fps practice.
easily the worst thing on that blog update…aside from no non-RQ changes…
they should not be restricting the game’s content…it does nothing other than cause things to stagnate…
Do NOT try map pools again please. Why are we taking step backwards, or was it so long ago that the team forgot they failed?
It makes the game feel smaller and genuinely feels bad when your favorite map isn’t there. For example, Rialto is one of my favorite maps. It sucks that it isn’t in the pool and I don’t get to play on it. Just like it’s gonna suck when King’s Row gets removed. Please no map pools. It makes the game feel small because we have all of these beautiful maps and we’re just going to restrict them.
Please god, nobody wants this.
Technically they did the same with 5v5
Double down on new things or innovate on what we have? Nah, double down.
Behold the illusion of freshness known as map pools
Map pool and looks like even the day/night system isn’t ever going to be an actual thing either lol, just switching what variant is in the pool.
What a nightmare.
I remember when they did that in Hots, i freaking hated it, i could NEVER
play the maps that i loved in compe, i wish they would do it like R6 does, 3 maps with a ban phase and both teams gets to vote on which one they don’t want to play,
maybe all the devs from that day are gone and they don’t even keep notes on their changes so the new devs think they actually came up with this idea

Map pools make sense from a comp perspective but I see no reason to put that in for QP. It really only needs to exist for ranked.
Yesterday I was wondering why the hell I hadn’t seen Havana, Rialto, Blizzard World or Numbani in any games. Should’ve guessed they were doing this map pool garbage.
More maps is a good thing. Fewer maps is a bad thing. Do it for comp if you must, but QP modes need more variety, especially with every 2cp map already also being removed.
We have too few maps as it is. No more map pool stuff in non-comp modes.
This is just a wild conspiracy theory but I have a very strong suspicion that due to Quick Play now being “Unranked”, this and other decisions were made with the continued intention of really pushing this game as a competitive e-sport. Competitive games have map pools, therefore OW2 shall also have map pools.
In fact if I didn’t know that it would make the game fatally bleed players, my guess is that they would do away with Unranked entirely and just make everyone play comp because that’s “how the game is meant to be played” and screw the casuals I guess.
After all, why was 2CP removed instead of reworked (like they said they would do)? It couldn’t possibly be because it rewards tactics and teamworks over flashy, twitchy aim, could it? Flashy, twitchy aim that appeals to the hardcore e-sports competitive crowd…
I’m just saying, the signs are there. I don’t like them, but they’re there.
I don’t believe anyone who has played Overwatch the past 6 years wants to be forced to play Arcade or Custom Games just to play certain maps(that were always available before) for 9 weeks at a time. This is something I believe nobody asked for and I know people didn’t like when it was attempted in Overwatch 1 Competitive. Us overwatch players just came out of the biggest drought of content imaginable and they’re tightening the content feed now? Right at the start? What happened to different seasons being about the new content? Not shuffling around content we already have!
Restricting maps and their lighting variants for 9 week periods especially for QuickPlay(the most played mode) right after removing all 2 Capture Point maps with no guarante the maps will ever return in different modes and Havana/Rialto/Blizzard World/Numbani(Just got Numbani back) its causing us to have the same/less maps then what Overwatch 1 had at launch.
I believe this is happening because the game is still isn’t finished(They stopped advertising it as Early Access). They don’t have the maps and their 3 types of lighting finished so they’re being restricted and presented as additions to make seasons even more unique and different.
And this is what gets me upset, if Ow2 wasn’t ready to launch with even all the maps Overwatch 1 had ready for 5v5 and with the new lighting variants, why have the battlepass system and shop ready for people to spend money and not the actual content of the game? Why create new lighting/weather variants for all the maps but then separate them by season? Isn’t their purpose so you dont get bored seeing the same map every day/session?
We want to see and experience all of the content you made for us! We don’t want it shuffled around, different handfuls at a time. Why restrict our ability to play and see certain ones every 9 weeks? There is already burn out from playing Push so often and playing the same maps over and over in a session. People play form 2-12 hours a day, matches are 10-20minutes long(especially with 2cp gone)We don’t want to play the same map with the same lighting 2-3 times in a session of gaming. Getting to see our favorite maps at different times of day and perhaps weather brings new life into them instead of seeing the same old sunny day or cool night is amazing why restrict that?
