Map locations and callouts

Hello all,

This topic is about landmark locations on maps, and whether there is a standard name for each landmark. I am curious to know whether there is a universally agreed upon language for calling out certain locations on maps. Some are common such as ‘mid’ on escort maps, ‘hotel’ on Kings Row, ‘top train/bottom train’ on Route 66, etc.

Here is a video from Jayne explaining the callout locations on Nepal Shrine (Jayne talks Positioning, Rotations, and Callouts - YouTube).

Are these common callouts or if someone were to learn these callouts, would it be a waste of time. Are there any sources or videos on what common callouts are? I would like to learn specific locations rather than inaccurate ‘high ground’, ‘behind’, or the dreaded ‘left/right’.

Ive never heard people use proper locations, just vague directions

maybe in higher ranks they do though?
