Overwatch’s workshop mode alone isn’t enough to support a robust Community Generated Content scene: we also need a map editor.
Fortnite recently announced that they’re releasing a consumer-grade version of hekkin’ Unreal Engine as Fortnite’s official Custom Game Creator toolset. When will blizzard allow their players that kind of creative freedom?

The maps themselves don’t make for very robust canvases though
I like this idea , some idea maps sends to devs for approve or reject
i think this would be a big challenge if honest.
Fortnite already used an engine that was open source, something that was made for consumer-grade projects.
Source based games would also easily implement this as Hammer and related tools are already easily accessible.
Though for Blizzard, they’d have to start from scratch, as they simply cannot just copy over what they have.
IIRC, they said they weren’t planning on making one, at least a while back.
Defo gonna be a lot of work though.

Majority of the OW maps are very lacking, this would be very needed to have some talented people create some well designed maps.
I’m really old school. I used to make maps for Unreal Tournament in the 2000s. I’d love to make some maps again! I have a feeling they won’t let us make maps though.

They use special in-house tools for buildings the maps for OW. So I doubt it’ll ever get released to the public. It’s a shame, because I think OW would definitely benefit from some custom maps - If not the core modes, than at least custom games.

If this was old Blizzard they would have let you do all that.
