If it lasts for 10 seconds its basically a discount nano boost. And mercy still retains her weaknesses, she wont be able to just damage boost if her entire team is being attacked. Plus if she does commit to boosting a single ally it will only be for ult combos. As I said, it would be a discount nano boost/super charger which means 40% damage increase would technically be fine.

These are very interesting stats. Thanks for posting. After Ana died with the nerfs, Mercy kinda took over and thats mostly visible in season 5, where dive truly was the meta and mobility was key. I still believe old Mercy was kinda weak though. Maybe its just me, but I kinda moved on from the old Mercy times, she just felt too unreliable back then as you climbed. Sometimes res felt impossible to get value out of because teamates where dying all over the place and she had 0 other utility other than damage boost, which was and still is rather limited. Plus you would often rez 1 or 2 people to keep the fight going to not stagger and lose which really lessened its potentiall that those lower ranks keep saying.
Ana’s on fire much more than mercy and gets potg far less.
Consider that
i think removing the AoE is a bad idea because that’s where the entire usage of valk comes to play - constant healing/damage boosting to all near by players.
making her have 1 big strong beam during valk would be way worse in terms of stats and way of playing. the maximum amount of healing during normal valk is (60x5) 300hps (if all teammates are near by). if you remove that and just let her have a 95 or even 100 hps with 1 beam it would be useless. why have that when you can use a nano boost to save one person and make them “unstoppable” or you can use moira’s ult which is stronger and can damage and heal multiple targets.
even if you keep the AoE but weaken the rest to give her a “main” beam the DB will still be too strong because of the one-shot capabilities it brings, and we already have baptisite and orisa’s ultimates that pump out insane amounts of damage
I’ve always thought blue beam should increase fire rate, not number. You can accomplish the same “on paper” DPS increase, while giving it a skill based element for the recipient, which has the added benefit of making Mercy’s contribution much more noticeable.

A while ago I started a thread about brainstorming things for Mercy and while lots of people said “Remove Valkyrie”… most of them (with a little prompting) were able to give versions of Valkyrie that they’d enjoy. People aren’t nearly as all in on Mass Resurrect coming back as you seem to think they are.
There’s plenty of things you can do with Mercy to make her more fun that I’ve not really seen anyone object to outside of the thoughtless chanting of “Mercy’s fine”. I mean really… even Megadodo, who’s one of the die hard no changes for Mercy people on this forum has read my most recent set of changes and didn’t object. Also on the other side of things, there was at least one person in that thread who quit over the Mercy rework saying they might come back if my changes happened.
A middle ground can be found… the Devs just need to move towards it.
What’s the use of having something be viable if nobody wants to use it? Answer is, there is none. That’s why Fun needs to be held higher than balance and viability and why something not being Fun to use is in fact enough to get it changes. I’m not saying balance is unimportant… but that’s primarily because nobody wants to try to fight something that’s overpowered.

This is a cool idea but save attack speed increase for a different support i’d say. It would be a pretty heavy change for dps especially in the current sniper heavy comps.
That statement wasn’t necessarily referring to Mercy. It was more a generalized statement. If a developer did succeed in making a game that literally no one liked… it wouldn’t matter how balanced it was. Nobody would play it.
However, what you say is true, which is why I’ve been advocating for slight shifts to Mercy to try to make her more fun without removing the fun that some people still have with her. In my opinion, this thread is doing the same.

Any kind of super-beam that gets offered inherently steps on toes of Nanoboost. HPS directly translates into damage reduction, and damage boost… is damage boost. Yay.
So, either you create ult that mirrors Ana’s but is worse, so it’s not going to be used. Or you create ult that mirrors Ana’s but is better, which means Ana isn’t going to be used. Pick your poison.
are you really suggesting the Mercy mains to use rez as a burst healing, aka, letting people to die in order to rez? I’m sorry, but that’s not how it should work. That’s unhealthy for the character. Rez shouldn’t be about waiting for people to die, it should be more of an emergency button if the team needs someone very specifically. So no, rez is not a real burst healing (otherwise, they could use it anytime and with anyone). It can be used, but it’s not how it should.
I’d like to believe that, but since you can’t show us any real fact that shows that everyone playing her really enjoy her, proving that her pickrate is not inflated either by the need of having a support in the team or whatever else, the only thing that can be assured for now is that many people loved her before, and now not, because we have had all those megathreads and constant complaints about her. Also, the game has been losing players since the rework hit (not only because of Mercy ofc, but she was one of the many reasons), so that proves that argument even more.
The only way your argument could be true would be making an interview to a huge amount of players, the majority of her current playerbase, and that’s very old. It’s not feasible.
To shield yourself from critics by responding “you can always use x” whenever balance issues are involved. Even if that x is tedious, boring, or works once in a full moon.
Like many companies already responded, if players don’t find something fun, it’s players to blame.
Many (keyword: many, not keyword :everyone) forum members have stated in posts across many Mercy-related threads that they enjoy playing Mercy in her current state
Mercy QoL fixes that wouldnt be hard to do:
reduce the Valk branch healing (the reason her healign was too good was becasue valk let her 60 hps 5 ppl…) to either a set lower number or have it have variable healing.
Example of it would be Main target gets full 60 hp/s. (as her main beam should never change imho as it makes annoyances)
1 ally near target? 50 hp/s.
2 ally near target? 40 hp/s.
3 would be 30 hp/s 30 hp/s.
4 would be 20 hp/s.
this would ofc be adjustable to fine tuning.
reduce duration and power so it would be an on demand AoE heal/dmg boost and keep the cooldown at a moderate to long side so it isnt always available. (this makes Mercy have a better skill ceiling of knowing when to use it or not.)
These would be simplest changes, but easy to do and test behind closed doors to see how it efefcts her overall. (not a lot of time invested = not much lost if it would prove to not work…unlike the massive time into 2.0 that took more tiem to fix over months that wasted everyones time)
These arent exactly “quality of life” changes. If anything they are pretty huge. Resurrect is never becoming an ultimate again as far as I know. Probably shouldnt say never but its highly unlikely. Honestly, she is supposed to be better at Ana on healing. Thats what she was designed to do. She heals, thats Mercy. If you’ve ever watched GM Ana gameplay from jjonak or other players Ana is basically a pseudo dps that can heal. She has insane utility during, before and after the teamfight as well as great initiation with her ult. Theres a reason her pickrate is that high. I think Mercy could easily be balanced with 60hps again.

but as rez is atm…it sucks.
its extremely restrictive (and extremely likely to get you killed if you try to use it in a fight) and just doesnt feel good to use even when you pull one off

60 hp/s? sounds nice. all primary healers (excluding her) do atleast that and in moiras case its way more.
60 hp/s during valk healing entire team that much? GG your efefctively doing 300 hp/s to your team.
