Making Rose Gold/Pink Mercy A Recurring Annual Event

Ever since Pink Mercy’s return, fan-crazed mercy mains have cherished Blizzard’s generosity and thoughtfulness. However, in recent time, many speculate and question whether or not it’s rerun for a third time around is a possibility. Instead of guarding these skins as “rare and exclusive”, their annual return year after year marks another possible event for Overwatch, solidifying them as a charitable company (both BCRF and players included) that listens to their community.
The hype generated from such an impactful skin like Pink/Rose Gold attracts the right consumers/fan base who care deeply about issues similar to the ones Mercy for a Cause advocates for. The money made from these skins generates money for Blizzard in the future due to the fact they will keep such a fanbase for feeling listened to.
To conclude, I really believe Mercy For A Cause should come back year after year, and if any skins should be kept “rare” or “exclusive”, it shouldn’t be a skin tied to a Charity like BCRF. Instead, giving these annual opportunities to raise funds keeps the consumer happy, the charity grateful, and benefits Blizzard with the right fanbase to market to/more popularity.

Not sure I agree, because I got it when it first came out and I liked the exclusivity, as it was maybe one of the first ever paid skins.

That said, I think what makes it great is its own special sound and visual effects, and that the weapon can be used on any other skin. It’s basically a mythic skin and mythic weapon in one package.

I agree with you that it’s similar to a mythic skin. However, the true reason behind the creation of Pink Mercy was to support research towards Breast cancer, and I feel like Blizzard has an opportunity to continue making a huge impact in fighting cancers.

With all due respect, selling pink Mercy skins will make very little impact for the cause.

At this point, paying for skins is routine for players, so it might not make any dent at all. I am sure lots of players didn’t even know their money was going to charity.

The skins have raised millions of dollars so far and millions more could be raised I would love to see the skins return!

I personally see 25 million USD as very impactful

If you personally dont see 25 M as all that much, I have one question for you: can I join your entourage? pretty please?

I am not saying it’s unjust or not worth it. I am saying 0.15% of the total spent on cancer research over the past 8 years isn’t “hugely impactful”.

That doesnt take away from the fact that it’s a great way to donate to BCRF tho… plus theres nothing wrong w/ it coming back again!

…Over the past… 8… years.

I dunno about you but to me that looks like rationalizing numbers to trivialize them.

That was a lot of money and likely funded a lot of research that wouldn’t have happened otherwise. The final impact is a cure or 100% effective treatment but you can’t poopoo it away.

Even if it’s one or two steps, you can’t get to the top without them.

If you ever come across a chest with 25M in it, and dont see it as impactful, let me know and ill be over in a jif to pick it up. No problem at all

I personally bought the skin for both reasons. I like Mercy and also contribute to a great cause. Cancer has unfortunately touched me very closely, so everything that can be contributed, even 1% of the total, is welcome.
I would like the event to return but with another hero and another charitable cause. The roster of heroes is very broad, as is the need for money for research into very many diseases.
I hope an event like this comes back!

I agree with you they should bring this event on a recurring event. And I’m truly sorry for your experience. As I share similar circumstances as yours, I’m here to talk if you need :white_heart:.

As a fellow cancer survivor I fully support this idea even if I am a male any help like this is always a appreciated. I will be one of the first to buy a new skin if it comes out with the hope that the funds do truely make a difference

we got 41 heroes left and infinite causes to support, cancer doesn’t discriminate so why should we? Make it a thing Blizzard! Yearly charity skin and drive!

need? no

itd be a good to have a new item to sell but it isnt a requirement. There are plenty of people who dont own these two skins, and that number grows daily

Bringing back both these skins now would greatly benefit considering the fact Chinese players haven’t been able to purchase neither cosmetics from the 2018 or 2024 campaign, as Overwatch returned to China in February 19, 2025. We already know Overwatch has a huge fanbase and community in China, so reintroducing the skin significantly increases donations beyond the rest of the world. Since BCRF primarily operates in the US, more donations from Chinese players could help its international impact, funding research for breast cancer world-wide. Overwatch is one of the few games we see that care for such issues as these, and undermining such a cause would be a missed opportunity to make a real difference.

I think bringing them back as WELL AS adding new Pink skins for OTHER heroes would be GREAT. As someone mentioned above if someone already has these skins, we can’t contribute, (yes I know we can donate outside of the game and to them directly but not my point here).

They have so many heroes to work with to constantly bring back the charity event yearly. Perhaps they can even look into making other colours to help other Cancer Research programs as well!!

Itd be nice to have more options, but given the mass termination when Microsoft took over, I think they probably dont have dev resources to devote to another charity project at the moment

If I have 8 billion dollars, and I come across a chest with 25 million in it, I promise you will be the first one I offer it to.

Lots of malding here about the point I made, which was to say less than 1% is not “hugely impactful”. Worth it, absolutely. I’m just saying this because many posts keep calling for the skin just for the skin’s sake.

The BCRF takes donations without anyone needing an Overwatch account, and Blizz could also do an entire event in October centered around charity. Just so much focus on the skin skin skin. Would players be this altruistic if it was a Sojourn skin?

I am glad all the many institutions that contribute “small” amounts, like, you know, 25M, to the charity havent looked at the numbers and said, hey, our 25M is only 0.015 of their budget, so we will just keep our money

thing is, if all these folks withdraw their “small” contributions, suddenly research cant continue due to lack of funds.
