Let us break free from the grips of Microsoft make all your games available on Linux distros natively.
Why would they do that, especially when Microsoft owns Blizzard/Activision now
one can ask and hope right
100% agree with this and support this yes please blizzard!
I’m surprised Microsoft didn’t kill Minecraft for Java yet. It has no cash shop and (essentially) all of the mods they charge you for the in the “Windows” version are free.
Yeah the fact that they have Minecraft available in this way opens up the possibility that the same could be the case for overwatch and they won’t mind having it on other platforms! Like Mac OS and Linux!
Nobody plays games on macs, and ubuntu users are smart enough to boot with windows.
Another good thing about making it for Linux is you could have it on the steam deck native and maybe it could come to Google stadia.
Stadia, huh, boy do I have some bad news for you.
Google just added a number of games to stadia Pro. It’s actually going full steam ahead!
No. Minecraft was made in Java and spent a long time there before Microsoft bought it for $2.5 BILLION, ported it to C++whatever (for native Windows 10 support) to add it to their XBox Game Store App and, most importantly, added a massive and relentlessly-growing cash shop. RIP parents everywhere.
They actually made it native apple silicon now as well!
lol linux gaming is an absolute meme.
Playing games on a Mac is really… strange. Why would anyone?
Facts: It has hardly every gone anywhere, in a long, long time.
Because Windows has a lot of support tools for game development and is just easy to develop for, people claim it’s Microsoft secretly conspiring to hold a monopoly when in fact they’re the only ones who give a crap about game development out of the OS providers. It’s also why Xbox is easy to port games too as well due to it running on windows and essentially just being a PC disguised as a console.
also doesn’t help that like
there isn’t a big incentive to develop on linux period
People using linux tend to also have windows on the machine, like 99% of the time.
Not really a big install base so why would they waste months of work porting a game to a platform that will not give them any major monetary gain? People who use linux aren’t interested in it for gaming and are just usually massive coding junkies and tech nerds.
Tho you could say linux gaming does exist within android OS because it runs on the linux kernel but I don’t think most would consider stuff like Fate/Grand Order, Girls Frontline, Arknights, Pokemon Go, Azur Lane, Diablo Immortal(lol), Clash of Clans, and Candy crush to be “real” games.
I feel personally attacked, I just happen to need linux for work with the unix kernal.
