Do this, adjust the numbers of the heal upwards to makeup for the inconsistency even with good aim, and give damage boost a very slight linger so missing it for 0.5 seconds wont make it disappear. Honestly after this i really wouldnt care if i died to a mercy pocket knowing that the Mercy had to atleast move their mouse.
Also this would seperate terrible mercys from the great ones.

im still in the camp where i dont think aiming should be a core requirement for every hero in the game
overwatch was suppose to be this unique game with all types of archetypes from different games. wasnt suppose to be your average run of the mill “everyone has an assault rifle” game.
sure you can have “easy to use” heroes but i find that ok. its the want of the game to be a competitive “esports” is where the problem came about. someone from the company… blizzared, devs… (probably just kotick) wanted the game to be some glorified esport that rivals csgo

Uh, literally the whole point of her character is flying around with a lock on beam.
This would destroy her mobility, which is the entire point, thats why people play her, they love the mobility.
Having to aim the beam is a frankly awful idea from someone who clearly doesnt understand how mercy is played.
Sub-dps players have to do that all the time, while aiming and decision making, thats why alot of them have high dpi. If they can do it, why not mercy mains?
I really dont have the patience to explain how mercy is played. Go play her in a match, stick with it the entire match and play her. You will see why aiming her beam is a bad idea.

this is my central problem with balance suggestions like this. you’re failing to capture the reason why people play this game: to have fun fufilling specific hero fantasies. i don’t think changing a significantly large part of a character’s mechanics for your own personal feelings is a good idea since you’re ruining the hero fantasy that mercy offers her very, very popular fanbase.

Absolutely people with better aim should be given more reward than those without assuming they have the same skill in all other aspects. Im sure good mercys are tired of being lumped with the braindead ones as well.
this is already true in game. if you take an Ana and a Mercy who are both equally skilled at their characters (ignoring the fact that you can’t really quantify something as abstract as skill), the ana will always have more direct impact on the game than the mercy, and this is because ana has to aim everything she does, so those things are generally more impactful or have less restrictions on the character. mercy is only ever as good as her team, but an ana can single handedly carry her team to victory if they let her.

I think you are playing the wrong game. This game has turrets, barriers, blinks, cc, easy to land aoe effects, lock-on beams, ult which grants aimbot, bouncy aoe dmg spheres, etc…
If you are a fps purist… yeah i think you should move on because first it was symmetra lock on beam, then it was torb turrets, now its mercy heal beam… there will always have something that doesnt fit your criteria of “skill expression”. You have a long fight ahead if you plan to complain about all that.
I suggest CS, they are going to release CS2 now so i think that game is way more adequate do let you do your aim skill expressions.

Yes Ana is a broken character, it has very little to do with aim. Mercy outperforms zen, bap, LW who require much more aim than her
