Make mercy fun please

I got told many times as well that my GA/AD is pain for DPSs (GM/T500 back with the old GA… now it’s even more pain for them :wink:).
As far as i know (after personal experience) no amount of Valkyrie movement will be enough if the base GA/AD fails. The range of Valkyrie is a different story. If you can stay far away from the fight, yes, in that case it’s better. But we are talking fun and in which case is staying as far away from the fight as possible fun? I know fun is subjective, but playing around the corner, not in the action isn’t really intresting for me in a game like OW.
And the speed is not really the reason why it’s harder to kill, it’s the verticalness which can be done with GA too if you know how.

The only thing which makes it more save is the range, not the movement. She should not be about long range healing, that’s Ana’s deal.

The Ult’s of the enemy’s have way less priority for you now, because you simply can’t do anything against them and a Earthshatter with no follow up can also be out healed by base Mercy. At the end, it goes down to the default Ult tracking which all heroes need. “Do you think they have Ult’s? Inform the team” nothing special about that anymore. With Mass Res it was like “Do you think they have Ult’s? Inform the team. But what if…” You needed to think far more ahead then just about the next fight.
The next thing is actually the first time that someone gives me a proper reason to use Val. But why only 25%? Because it boils down to healing management which, as i said, is not different than the base management. If a Graviton Surge lands well and you have a Junkrat on your team, most of the time it’s enough to just boost him, because he can dish out so much Dmg. That works with some other heroes as well.

But at the end of the day it’s as fun as making a circle in Photoshop. You just click and done.
I wouldn’t call this art as well as i wouldn’t call Valkyrie interesting.

That’s true, but only to a 1/3.
Valkyrie needs only thinking which takes place in the present. It’s way more reflex based and most of the time you only need the informations from the current situation (just like with the base management).
The examples you are using are more for her base kit and less something you would think about if you use/want to use Val.

This is true, but we are talking about Valkyrie. Resurrect as her E is a completely different deal than her Ult and has several other reasons/problems which gets players worried.

But!
Valkyrie is most of the time only used for the clean up/engagement which makes it a bit pointless to think about the amount of the players on the field.
Other sups don’t even need to use an Ult for that which makes it a bit pointless in that spots as well.

Again, true. But also again, res is not Valkyrie.
Valkyrie needs timeing as well, all Ult’s need at least a bit timing. But Resurrect (Ult) had so many different situations in which it could be use that timing in Val feels like not needed at all.
Val has it’s situations, sure. But those are not even close to be as thrilling, mind-game-heavy and complex as the situations of Mass Resurrect.

E Resurrect, yes (although it’s more gambling most of the time). Valkyrie, not so much. The position of your enemy has almost zero priority for Valkyrie, because your not the guy shooting them. It’s more than enough to know where your team is.

Okay, maybe I misphrased that.
What i mean with that is that you needed to know the strategies of all Ult’s and what they exactly can do or what they potentially can do. Mercy was an all rounder after all, so you needed to know everything about all heroes. (Maybe a reason why i can play most heroes so well).
Valkyrie needs that not at all. If you know that the Ult can out dmg Val you just don’t use it. This is a massive chunk of strategic adaptation which is just gone.

In S5 my goal was GM and i was close. But i stoped playing mid season because the game was extremely toxic at that time and Mercy’s rework was announced…

Also yet again this is res not Val. The entire category can’t be fulfilled by Valkyrie at all.

But i still want to jump into that a bit.

The E res is by far harder to pull of as the Mass Res. Everyone which says something else is blind. But the decision making is subterranean (can I say that in English like that? sounds wrong…). If more than 2 teammates are dead, most of the time you just disengage and don’t try to risk it. It’s really just “is it save or not”. You just want to use it everytime you can, to keep the man advantage. What you are saying can apply in some situations, but it’s by far more important to keep the man advantage.

The only skill in decision making Valkyrie needs is the very basic decision making of her kit, Healing/Dmg Management. It’s not only easier to use, it also involves way less strategy.
Valkyrie does not extend her gameplay which is a major problem in my opinion, because it makes her really flat and bland.

A Transformation Ult is no fit for Mercy

I played against good players with the old GA and it worked more than good enough. (keep in minde, my overall res average was at 6-6.5 a match).

The point of that is that it’s far more engaging to do that stuff with her base kit because it’s less save and that it’s still the same impact as if i would use Val.

Same problem. It’s to easy. Why should i use it if i can have the same outcome with the base kit, but with way more fun? Keep in minde that this is not about the viability of Val, you have some very valid points for it (in the supportive category) but so far i still see nothing in Val which is fun, interesting or thrilling.

My point is that you don’t even need to use Valkyrie for that. Behind a shield, end of story. I wouldn’t use my Ult as a sup just to kill a sniper.

Well that’s more gambling to be honest and an Ult used just for a stall feels a bit wasted in my opinion.

Yes, i did and it’s not that much harder than dodging them in P-D. I was in all ranks from G-high M. I played with many GM’s and T500 from time to time and because i specialised my self in the GA usage. It’s more than possible.
DM is a different story… they just eat you there…

I still stay with my point.
She takes with Val and E res overall way less strategy and gamesenses to play. It’s no fun to play because it misses interesting and thrilling gameplay mechanics which work with her kit. Buff’s or nerf’s won’t change that, it’s a core problem of Valkyrie.

The GA change is the only good thing from the rework.
