Just wanted to put my two cents into the forums. Instead of having a stun, she has a cripple which stops all mobility. It would slow down heroes depending on their mobility. Zenyatta would not be effected, but Tracer would be destroyed.
I was also thinking of adding this to her normal attack after three blows and her whip shot, but that might be to much.
How would that stop (counter) a Tracer or a Genji? Cripple means they can still use their movement abilities. It would completely defeat the point of having Brigitte in your team.
Cripple is not a stop - it’s a slow down which means you can still use abilities to counter it. I’d compare it to Orisas magnet or Zaryas ult which can be countered by Moiras fade and Reapers wraith form.
Stopping someone would be a root ability and as far as I know we only have the Junk trap that does something like it at the moment. Sorry, but I just can’t see how you’d justify turning shield bash into a root (cripple) ability.
Even in real life if I hit you with a shield anywhere on your body you will not be able to do much for some time. So changing shield bash like that makes no sense whatsoever.
Cripple is a great idea, I’m honestly not sure how it is that Blizzard failed to do this and instead just implemented a 1 second stun on a 5 second cooldown, this just shows how clued out the developers are to balancing their game, “yeah mate, just give her a 5 second cooldown stun, meta changing!!11!11one!!1”.
Theoretically, cripple/root effects make you pretty much incapable of doing much for the time being. Tracer is pretty helpless in a Junkrat mine.
Maybe instead of the stun, it slows the target down a high percentage (70% to 80%) and then temporarily silences (like literally 1 second) all movement based abilities (Pharah rocket jump, Tracer recall, Genji dash, Reinhardt charge, etc.)
At least then the person affected can still somewhat defend themselves, but are still punished for getting too close to Brigitte. Anyone who thinks the current Shield Bash is balanced and enjoyable to play against is asinine. It’s way too spammy and overtuned at the moment.
A full on cripple affect for 1 to 1.5 seconds would be good as it only locks mobility abilities so they still have their other non movement abilities to work with, and an 80% slow would be much much worse than a cripple

Based on where the hero falls changes how much they get slowed.
Change there system at will because I don’t know off the top of my head where to put all the characters. This was just a quick chart to demonstrate my point.
I mean, you get what I’m saying though. Logically, locking someone in place seems weird, but I guess it’s doing that anyways with a stun.
At this point, I welcome anything that’s not a stun. I hate how easily she can cancel Death Blossom or Whole Hog. McCree has to put himself at so much risk to get that flashbang off. Brigitte protects herself with a decent shield to pull off that stun. She has plenty of time to block a fraction of an ult in order to get that stun off.
