so yea been having one of those days. playing as sombra and 3 games in a row i get stomped but the next 3 my team is the ones doing the stomping. last game i really felt bad since i singled out a mercy for assassination.
new queens street beginning of the game and i try to burst her down in the back but she gets away with like 5 percent health but someone finishes her off later. the team fight is won and i immediatley re-translocate then make a beeline to their spawn. guess who is just sitting there waiting for her team…i assassinate her again since just standing there with uzi to the head. i kill her a couple times later and about midway she leaves the game
makes me feel guilty but i think about when i get stomped. thats the way the game is now i guess
if i go back to my replay i think its more of the other healer not paying attention to mercy and our tank just being better than thier tank. i know it wasnt me making all the difference as sombra. yea taking out a support right away helped but i think it was just a team difference
it does seem like its stomp or be stomped with 5v5. also people seem to quit out more than usual but its always been like that with quickplay right?
so i can see people wanting a surrender button but maybe it would be used too much. just quitting out is surrendering?
In QP it doesn’t matter. In competitive it will be abused. If you say need only the majority then people who want to smurf will go trio and surrender to rank down. And even if unanimity is needed, changes nothing, just go 5 smurf accounts (though it’s slightly better because nobody else has to suffer). It’s just legalized throwing.
There are a lot of players who have a tendency to quit just because they lose the first team fight or round. Even if they stick with the match they don’t try, groan, quick and complain all game. In quick play, I think those players should just leave or play something else, in competitive, I think players have to just learn to adjust and try harder and hope match making goes in their favor. Also, it seems to be a pointless feature that clashes if you’re close and/or still have the Overtime mechanic to come back with.
If your team comp isn’t working, then you swap heroes to what will work against the enemy team.
That was and has always been the core of Overwatch. Surrendering is super lame. Because the majority of the team gave up but I didn’t, I should just give away a free W and SR to the enemy team, while just happily welcome the L and SR loss for myself when I never gave up?
Most players don’t swap, and I can’t swap to counter five players when my team is doing absolutely nothing. So again, it’s a team-based game; if the team isn’t working, press the surrender button.
And the match lasts at least 5 to 8 minutes, so if you are lucky enough to get matched with enough teams that aren’t working, the minutes start to add up, and you waste 30 minutes or an hour of time easily.
In quick play, with the disparity in ranks, games tend to be a mess, and you can easily see if the game is going nowhere.
Reporting does nothing; they have already proven it tons of times. It’s a worthless tool in the game; it could be deleted and no one would notice.
EDIT: And I’m not complaining about balanced or close matches. I have those, and they are fun but very rare.
Please no. There’s already one game completely ruined by the surrender button.
For reference, what happens is that literally in the games equivalent of hero select people give up and stop trying and try to force their team to surrender.
Im talking about matches, for example, where we are holding the enemy team, but we are 3 vs. 5, while the other 2 players are contributing literally nothing. You know you can hold, but they have already pushed the robot, so you are going to lose anyway. The question is, should I throw the match by doing nothing, or should I surrender if there was a button?
add a surrender button, and every single time a team thinks they are going to lose, the entire team is going to surrender. it will be worse than leavers.
It can’t be worse than leavers, because at least you can queue for a new match, while on the other hand, you are stuck in a match with 4 or fewer players on your team, waiting for a filler.
Again, it’s a team-based game. If there’s no team, there’s no match.
So if there is a stack on my team that decides that in the very first team fight that once they catch 1 or 2 Widow headshots and want to call it a day, I gotta get myself packed back to the main menu with a rapid fire L under 3 minutes that I had no control over?
There is no way that would, or should ever be added to the game.
Yes, but the problem is that the incompetent players in the match don’t leave, so you are stuck in a losing battle with them. So leaving for me does nothing.
So you’d rather stay on a match where you know the stack has the lose mentality and they’re going to drag you into a lose anyway? Because no matter what you do, you can’t win 1 vs. 5.
Again, this is not a game where one person can win alone. “team-based” game.
This isn’t in most games. From the games I do know, it’s only existed in MOBAs, specifically Smite and Pokemon Unite. Otherwise, I have never seen a Surrender Button exist in any other games, and trust me, I’ve played multiple in the timeframe of over a decade. Although I wouldn’t think a Surrender Button is the worst idea, I just don’t think it’ll actually happen.
