Major Connection Issue

So, I used to be an avid player but for the past two months, I haven’t been able to use Overwatch at all! Anytime I pair my personal hotspot up with my pc, the game either immediately says “unable to connect to server”, or at least lets me queue up for a match. As soon as I join it though, lag always just drags me straight out of spawn, and into the farthest obstacle possible or fully off the map, even if I press no directional keys. Also, every few seconds, a red caution symbol on the left side of my screen flashes, then disappears again. Seems like it’s stuck in a long loop of trying to hold on but failing over and over. My Overwatch is simply unplayable at the moment. Yet, any other game works a charm, websites and all too. Plus, my boyfriend somehow doesn’t share my problem. This is where my confusion lies most, because we are set up with the same internet provider, I am on the same data plan that he has, so of course, get the exact same service as he does, use the same pc as well, own the same phone model, but the type of lag he comes across is, what I would describe as a normal amount for an online video game. So, why is his hotspot still working with the game, but mine is not? Especially since it merely, randomly stopped working one day, I know neither of us have changed any settings leading up to this happening either. I should add, we live pretty rural, so staying with data is our only choice unfortunately, and the provider we are with is the only one who has a good tower out here. Any other help is much appreciated anyway, thank you!

Unfortunately, mobile connections don’t meet the minimum system requirements, so troubleshooting for them isn’t officially provided here. I’m a volunteer, so I can wager a couple of guesses:

  1. There is interference on your mobile connection that isn’t happening with his. This could be the antenna on the phone, the network card in your computer, or something in the house.
  2. It could also be the location where you’re sitting and how good the service is in that spot, since you’re obviously not sitting directly on top of one another. Overwatch requires a lot of data per second, and usually mobile connections can’t keep up with the demand, unless everything is running perfectly.

Out of curiosity, have you tried his phone with your computer? That would help narrow down the issue for you. But otherwise, this sounds like something you might need to work out with your data provider.
