Main Menu capped at 60 FPS?

There is no way to change it, why would they do this? I have a 144hz monitor so I can see smooth frame rate. 60 FPS actually makes me feel ill when seeing it.

I mean, is there a need?
If you feel sick when looking at 60 FPS are you even able to watch TV?

Does anyone even watch TV nowadays

I mean I don’t, my friends tease me for not owning one, I think TV is an outdated device personally

But I still feel like I’m in a minority on that

Are you spending that much time in the menus?

I noticed this a while ago (I can also see frame rates and this looks super janky on some skins such as Toy Bot Zenyatta.)

My only thought is that having an uncapped frame rate on the main menu was causing some sort of issue. And the easiest solution was to throttle it. As to what that ‘issue’ might be: I have no idea.

It is one of the odd things with this game. I think there was a way to uncap it with certain settings but don’t remember how.

However you probably don’t need to be running your GPU at top speed when looking at static screen anyway.

The zenny bot skin is bugged since it’s release, and blizzard is so lazy to fix it

I did not know that, yikes. Still, the combo of buggy skin and low fps is eye-bleedingly bad… Actually, why haven’t I changed it??? what is wrong with me?

Excuse me I just gotta open overwatch real quick…

Many tvs are 120hz though
TV literally inserts frames so you get smooth 60hz /120hz effective

Yes DPS queue my friend.

I don’t watch much TV its 24 frames on Netflix :face_vomiting:

I came back after a while and noticed it, played a few games and swapping between 60 and 144 is kind of annoying because the only time I get to enjoy my refresh rate is in a 7 minute match with a 13 minute queue, and no I don’t like playing arcade or custom games.

It should just go to your monitors max refresh rate (If your system can push those numbers.)

I’ll give you that, anything below 60 frames is just crude to watch

I know you’re not a fan of custom games or arcade but you can always sit in the training room whilst you wait, if you do ever want to do some shooting there’s this mode I use to avoid the menu screen: VAXTA

Its a chill little warmup mode that is more challenging than the training room, the bots don’t do damage, infinite ammo, ability to choose buffs like nano etc, and ult whenever you want. Its certainly less eye strain than staring at the menu.

VAXTA? Sounds like a good warm up, I’ll check it out! thanks

Agree. Literally unplayable. This oversight needs to be corrected asap!

I mean a flatscreen in the loungeroom is nice when friends and family come over, I’m guessing you still live at home with the 'rents?

Just for lulz? No idea
At least make it same with display refresh rate, why 60hz for Jeff sake

PS May be Jeff had 60hz display, so thats why it stuck ha

I’m confused that people find 24 fps films hard to watch since that is typical for most movies and lower for some scenes in animations. They did try to make a 48 fps in some newer movies and a lot of people found that jarring because it didn’t have a “movie feel” that most were used to.

I just want to watch Rick and Morty at 144hertz. How is that too much to ask for? :frowning:

The main menu has been 60FPS locked for a LONG time, several years at least. I don’t look at the main menu for very long even when I’m not actively playing the game. I’ll put it in the background.

I’m sorry that it makes you sick but I think it’s there to keep people from burning out their GPUs with unnecessary frame rendering.
