Made it to Diamond not on my role

On my quest to get Diamond as Doomfist I made diamond as a tank farming tickets. Dang. My priorities are not in line.

Almost as if tank is OP and everyone on the fourms who cries about tank being dog is delusional and trash.

Oh damn same! I got masters on tank before dps by farming tickets.
I actually really enjoyed the tank games but hitting masters on a role that I had like 50 hours on made me question my dps skills

Or hes picking a sink or swim character in low elo and can’t get value AND his tank playstyle suits him better

are you 1 tricking a tank or filling as needed. 1 tricking dps is throwing in a lot of games unless you are a t500 smurf.

It’s easier to carry as tank, my tank is the highest too. I was a support main, and my support is the lowest. I just can’t support anymore, it sucks when you are far more skilled then the rest of the team and are stuck on support.

I think it’s not about skills as much as how your relative skill scales in a much smaller player pool. There’s like 1 tank in queue for every 15 dps players, and even then 2 out of every 3 Tanks plays an off tank instead of main tank.

In my dps games I try and play Doomfist as much as I can. I’ll swap, but not unless it’s critical.

Personally, I find playing Doomfist and tanks to have much in common. Its frequently why I find him one of the easier characters to play. The drawback is just that the strength of tanks is higher than doomfist. Much of the same attitude you have in regards to using Doomfist in terms of who you prioritize. Waiting for cooldowns. Going in for burst plays. Playing tactically smart rather than as an aim aficionado.

I’d say if you play much Winston or Hammond I feel like that mindset carries over, but its just that Winston/Hammond having so much free bulk get to get away with way more stuff than doomfist ever can. Winston/Hammond might eat stuns, but have so much health its hard to die for it.

In general, if you can play doomfist with the mentality of trying to dive in with teammates you already have generally good awareness of the proceedings of the game and terrain to get advantages.

Even switching over to other tanks I find its kind of the same thing for some units like Reinhardt.

Most tanks are a detriment too their own teams.

Under Diamond… every match is 6v6… except 2 of those 6 enemies are your own tank line.

I noticed I had a 68 win percent on Sigma while being in the 50’s on my main DPS roles. It’s embarrassing to be doing that much better on a role I think I suck at. Tank gets way more reward for less effort.

I think it also has something to do with Doomfist

Simply put, he’s an unreliable character, so winning the match with him won’t be consistent. I would also say he’s a difficult character to play well, but it’s moreso the character’s playstyle being fragile that drags him down.

Explains why my tank is still on plat where as the others hit diamond

no i mean were you flexing on tank? cos that might be why you got it higher combined with the game sense you got from playing doom

it wont stop you climbing to where you deserve but it will cost you easy wins where you are rock/paper/scissors hard countered.

Just imagine if they turn Doomfist into a tank in OW2

No one will stand in your way

I have nearly 200 hours on ball now and for the life of me I just cannot play Doomfist. I try to have a similar mentality when I play the two, but truth be told, I think I just don’t know how to set up plays on DF the way I do Hammond. I’m used to starting my grapple from unseen locations, sponging damage on a ā€œsoftā€ engage to bait out cooldowns, then coming back with a ā€œhardā€ engage later, but I think a lot of these things are just things Doomfist cannot do.

Additionally, I enjoy Hammond’s poke/distraction playstyle, where before you try and make hard commits, you shoot people from off angles to distract them. It isn’t a lot of damage, but it keeps squishies from getting too comfortable. Doomfist has no poke, and I hate the feeling of standing around and doing nothing waiting for an opportunity to engage safely (which I feel like is a lot of DF gameplay).
