Lvl matching in comp

please could you add back level matching in comp?

i had so many games with smurfs almost one each match. i just had a game when my team was full silver/gold border. end the enemy had 4 lvl50-140. our team was thousands lvles a head of the other team. and they even said they where smurfs.

i like the game but it’s getting out of hand.

I actually just posted something similar to this idea where I believe match-making should take into account how much time you played in addition to your skill rank.

I had no idea it used to be this way?

cant be sure ofc. but i belive it was. because in overwatch prime i never got people that are way lower then nor way higher. but yeah smurfing is really bad atm

I’m sorry but hard disagree. As a “smurf” myself I wouldn’t mind ranking up with similar skilled people, however for new players that would mean the ones who catch on quickly would be forced to play with the ones who just don’t. Unfair. some new players are as good as players who’ve put 2k hours into the game since time played =/= skill level.

Well then stop smurfing then everyone is happy.

I don’t get what’s so fun at just destroying people in a lower rank. Just for your ego to fill.

1: move on from petty insults, it’s weird and makes me agree with the devs discord server
2: i made it to see where I would be placed with no MMR
3: also I don’t have to make you happy the devs have made their view of smurfs clear so I’m not in the wrong here

Smurfs would get too upset because their opponents would actually match their skill level. So it’s not going to happen.

The definition of a smurf is someone playing on a lower-ranked alt-account for the purpose of “noob-stomping”. You called yourself a smurf first, he was just applying the definition to you.

If that’s not what you’re doing, and you don’t like being described that way… then don’t call yourself a smurf. If it is what you’re doing… that’s pretty mild disparagement compared to what many would say about that kind of activity.

Wrong. A smurf is someone who gets placed at a lower rank. The **** MMR for first time accounts is to blame, not me “throwing games” to get placed lower and to stomp people. Don’t argue other peoples statements it’s weird and you literally don’t know what they meant.

Who asked you anything? This ain’t your conversation. I don’t like being insulted because you people have this weird sense of entitlement over everyone else.

Not simply placed by accident or happenstance.

Urban Dictionary:

The name comes from a group who named their noob-stomping alt-accounts Papa Smurf and Smurfette, and the name has stuck and been transferred to other games ever since.

If you’re doing something other than noob-stomping, then perhaps don’t call yourself a smurf and people will be less inclined to automatically dislike you.

By that definition everyone in Bronze and Silver is a smurf.

There are perfectly valid reasons for having multiple accounts.

People who have multiple accounts will have disparate skill to level ratios.

Level matching will make these people either destroy noobs or have insane queue times.

The game has never had level matching outside of your first few games where it sticks all completely new players together.

Some people are desperate for 30min queues

did it ever exist?

Sorry if u feel insulted. But saying someone filling there ego is not a insult. It’s normal that people want to do that becouse it gives them a feeling of pride and enjoyment (ofthen at the pr8ce if others)

But I can’t find any other reason why to Smurf beside the ego part.

And yeah a alt account especially before role queue to see what you are on other roles are not smurfs. Smurfs want to be at a lower rank to destroy people. And want to stay there.

I also have a alt and that one is high diamond. While this one is currently mid plat (have been high diamond on this one as well I believe).

Bruh I don’t care none of those definitions have meaning.

you know damn well what I meant stop acting childish.
