So I’ve been playing Lucio since beta, I have around 1100 hours of Lucio played and playing in a low gm game on Xbox, I got three messages telling me Lucio is a throw pick now. Over half the Lucio mains I see on Xbox, even this kid with 1900 hours, has started playing Bap, I’m extremely confused because I didn’t have this problem last season, but all of a sudden Lucio is a throw hero?

He isn’t bad at all, but a little overshadowed
I think he needs some speed reverts/buffs, but I also like the idea of having amp increase his radius from 12m to 16m momentarily.

He’s not bad but I’m just confused, I had someone throw a game spamming “I need healing” and not only that, more than 70% of top 500 support players play Brig, Mercy, or Baptiste. I see only 7 lucio players out of all.

It’s just not his meta rn. He’s been always a viable pick but speed boost isn’t that important in double shield.
Imagine Mercy mains that have not been meta since Moth or Symmetra was viable only one week.

It feels like Genji was pre buff.
he’s not a throw if you’re playing rein sigma lucio is good to speed rein around, but if it’s orisa sigma it’s a throw.
No one plays rein on console it seems, and the toxic game I played we had Brig/Lucio, Rein/Sig, Genji/Tracer. This is a top 500 game too, I expected more than someone to start throwing.
His base kit has been powercrept. Outside of speed, his kit has barely been changed, whereas healing and damage has gone up since launch, and he can’t keep up with his low healing and low damage. The only reason he will ever be meta is his speed because he has a monopoly on it. The rest of kit is straight up a worse version than Brig’s

A large portion of Lucio’s value is in his speed boost. Double shield is an immobile comp, so there’s no need for the speed.
You’ll be spending most of your time on heal song. At that point, you’re better off playing Baptiste or Moira because they have much stronger aoe healing.
What do you think needs to be buffed? Because Zenyatta seems to be in a much worse spot right now too.
The problem is not Lucio, Genji got a damage buff and spread reduction, he can farm blade way faster than Lucio or Zen can farm a defensive ULT, that’s why Lucio is not meta now. And since both tanks are usually shield tanks Bap can destroy shields way faster than Lucio + Ana Brig and Bap either synergize with genji or help to shut down him and his ultimate.
There’s no need for any buffs for Lucio or Zen, they are pretty balanced, but the meta is NOT good for them, it’s the “it’s not you it’s me(ta) kinda of situation”.
